Goins will man the strong side of a platoon with Darwin Barney while Devon Travis (knee) is sidelined, Mike Wilner of Sportsnet 590 The Fan reports.
EDGE Analysis
Travis is expected to be out a while, so Goins seems to be in line for plenty of playing time. That being said, he's hitting just .210 on the season, so even with the expanded playing time, he'll need to produce more at the plate to warrant any fantasy interest.

Jays' manager John Gibbons acknowledged that Goins has starter-worthy skills, but made clear that the infielder will be no more than a fill-in based on the current roster construction, Steve Buffery of the Toronto Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
While Troy Tulowitzki (hamstring) spent a month on the DL, Goins locked up the everyday role at shortstop for the Jays. While filling the gap, Goins posted an uninspiring .210/.257/.362 line over 115 plate appearances. He did, however, manage a career-high .152 ISO during the 30-game stretch. There's no question the 29-year-old can be a premier defender, and with regular playing time he believes he can be a solid MLB hitter. Unfortunately for Goins, his manager has no intention of changing the lineup. "You can still have a pretty good career being a utility player," Gibbons said. "But Ryan, he could go to some good teams (in the majors) right now and be a starter. But he's got Tulo and Devon [Travis] here," the manager added. With the Jays infield set, Goins can be dropped across most fantasy formats until another routine job becomes available to him.

Goins is out of the lineup Sunday against the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Though he was rested Saturday, Troy Tulowitzki experienced no issues with his hamstring in his return from the disabled list Friday and looks poised to take back his usual duties at the everyday shortstop, leaving no regular spot in the lineup for Goins. The 28-year-old could still receive a couple starts per week at either second base or shortstop when manager John Gibbons chooses to give either Devon Travis or Tulowitzki a day off.

Gonis went 2-for-4 with a grand slam and a double during Wednesday's win over Milwaukee.
EDGE Analysis
Gonis is having a nice series against the Brewers going 4-for-8 with a home run, two doubles and five RBI through two games. His glove should keep him in the mix when Troy Tulowitzki (hamstring) returns from the disabled list, but Gonis' .622 OPS doesn't move the fantasy needle.

Goins is out of the lineup Sunday against the Orioles, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager John Gibbons is going with an all-right-handed lineup to counter Orioles southpaw Wade Miley, leaving no spot available for the lefty-hitting Goins. With Troy Tulowitzki (hamstring) facing an uncertain timeline for his return, Goins still looks like the Jays' primary option at shortstop in the interim, though Darwin Barney will handle those duties Sunday.

Goins attributes his improved plate approach in 2017 to the offseason tutelage provided by Troy Tulowitzki, Shi Davidi of Sportnet> reports.
EDGE Analysis
Tulowitzki told Goins to simply slow down his swing. By doing so, the latter would be able to recognize and track pitches more effectively. Based on the results -- a significant drop in Goins' chase rate and an increased line drive rate -- Tulo's advice seems to have worked. Ironically, it's an injury to Tulowitzki (hamstring) that has enabled Goins to re-establish him as a serviceable MLB bench player after a disappointing 2016 campaign. That said, the starting shortstop is scheduled to come off the DL Wednesday, relegating his apprentice to resume a backup role.

Goins will start at shortstop and bat ninth in the order Sunday against the Angels, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's the fourth start in a row for Goins, who looks poised to hold down a full-time role in the short term following Troy Tulowitzki's (hamstring) placement on the disabled list Saturday. Goins has shown some decent plate discipline in the past, but with little power or speed to speak of and a career .224 batting average, there's little fantasy upside to be mined here.

For the second straight night, Goins entered as a late-game defensive replacement at third base, but did not receive an at-bat, in Thursday's contest against Baltimore.
EDGE Analysis
The biggest news of the night is that the Jays' regular third baseman, Josh Donaldson, exited the affair early after reaggrevating his right calf injury. Donaldson has already missed time this season due to the calf issue, and now he faces a real possibility of being placed on the DL. Under that circumstance, Goins would move up the depth chart. And although Darwin Barney is likely to fill in for Donaldson on most nights, Goins would become the club's super-utility man and would certainly see an uptick in playing time under that circumstance.

Goins went 0-for-2 with a walk and struck out once in his first start of the season Tuesday against Milwaukee.
EDGE Analysis
Nearly every Blue Jays player had seen his name grace the starting lineup before the team returned home from a six-game road trip to start the season. Everybody except for Goins, that is. The utility man has carved out a niche as a late-game defensive substitute, but offers little in terms of offensive production. It would take a slew of injuries for Goins to become relevant in any fantasy format.

Goins is starting at third base and hitting ninth Tuesday against the Brewers.
EDGE Analysis
Josh Donaldson was held out of Tuesday's lineup with a calf injury, giving way to Goins at third base. Goins has appeared at the plate once this season and has slashed just .223/.270/.324 in his major-league career, but could appear in the lineup until Donaldson is back in full health.
