Cook was called up from Triple-A Tacoma on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
In a corresponding move, Christian Bergman was optioned down to Tacoma following his start against Texas on Wednesday. Cook hasn't appeared in a major-league game since the 2015 season and spent the last couple years dealing various injuries including a back issue and then Tommy John surgery. During 13 outing with Tacoma in 2018, he's posted a 2.03 ERA and 0.99 WHIP with a 17:3 K:BB across 13.1 innings.

The Mariners reassigned Cook to their minor-league camp Sunday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
After missing the entire 2017 season while recovering from Tommy John surgery, Cook unsurprisingly looked rusty in spring training, giving up 10 runs on 14 hits and seven walks over seven frames. He'll have to iron out the kinks and regain velocity in the high minors before perhaps warranting a look from the big club later this season.

Cook agreed to a minor league contract with the Mariners on Friday, MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander will spend the entire year rehabbing from Tommy John surgery, which was performed Oct. 20. An All-Star in 2012, Cook has made just nine appearances at the major league level over the past two years. He suffered a lat strain in spring training and made just one appearance in rookie ball in July before landing right back on the shelf.

Cook was outrighted to Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
A lat injury injury suffered in spring training put Cook on the 60-day DL, and he made just one rehab appearance in July before shutting it back down. The Mariners have chosen not to return Cook to the 40-man roster, so it seems likely he'll pitch for Tacoma to begin 2017, health permitting.

Cook (back) threw a perfect inning in the Arizona Rookie League on Sunday in his first rehab game, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cook saw his first live action since being placed on the 60-day DL in early March and managed to retire the side without surrendering a base runner. The 29-year-old will be eligible to return shortly after the All-Star break and will look to get back to his 2014 form that saw him post a solid 3.42 ERA in 50 innings of work for the A's.

Cook (strained right lat) will begin his rehab assignment for Peoria in the Arizona League on Sunday, Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cook has not pitched at all in 2016. If he can successfully complete his rehab without any setbacks, he could be a nice addition to a Mariners bullpen that has struggled over the past couple of weeks leading up to the All-Star break. Cook, who had a great run as a reliever for Oakland from 2012-2014, will look to regain his velocity and command after a very disappointing 2015 with the Athletics and Red Sox organizations.

Cook (back) was placed on the 60-day DL by the Mariners on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Cook was expected to open the season on the DL, but the 60-day DL means he is going to have to wait a long time before he can see the field. The move is to make 40-man roster room for the newly acquired Rob Brantly.

Cook (back) will likely open the season on the disabled list, the Tacoma News-Tribune's Bob Dutton reports.
EDGE Analysis
It is not clear how long Cook's back injury will keep him sidelined, but this will open up opportunities for Tony Zych and Joel Peralta at the outset of the season. When Cook is healthy he should occupy a middle relief role.

Cook has a strained back that is expected to keep him out more than two weeks, the Tacoma News Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cook faces tough odds to land a bullpen spot. Missing significant time probably seals his fate.

Cook agreed to a minor league deal with the Mariners on Thursday, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
The former All Star was non-tendered by the Cubs this offseason after a difficult 2015 campaign that saw him post a 18.69 ERA and 3.115 WHIP over nine relief appearances with the Athletics and Red Sox. According to Heyman, Cook can earn $1.1 million if he makes the major league roster.
