Hello everyone, and welcome to my weekly Top-30 Fantasy Rankings for Impact Rookies! In this series, I will be going over the top prospects in baseball and discussing which ones figure to have an impact for the rest of this fantasy baseball season. There have been tons of injuries lately. However, some of the top guys are starting to come back. Both Shohei Ohtani and Ronald Acuna have returned from their injuries. You will notice that the rookie rankings have been reflected to show that with [...]

Russell Martin Dealing with Sore Knee rotoballer.com Mon 7/2/18 12:59 PM

Toronto Blue Jays catcher Russell Martin is dealing with a sore knee and was held out of the team's game on Monday. It appears that the injury is minor, however, and he should return in a game or two. Martin has hit just .168 with six home runs and 16 RBI in 2018. There are certainly worse options since Martin is an everyday player, however, he hasn't been serviceable since his 2016 20-home run season.

Russell Martin Plays Shortstop In Blowout Loss rotoballer.com Wed 5/16/18 6:14 AM

There's a headline we never thought we would write. Yes, it's true -; the Toronto Blue Jays pulled an unorthodox move with catcher Russell Martin and switched him over to shortstop in the eighth inning of a 12-2 loss to the New York Mets on Tuesday. Hey, if you're ever going to try it, it might as well be in a 10-run loss, right? It was Martin's first career appearance at shortstop, and there's a good chance it's the last. Martin didn't have any put-out attempts at short, but something tells us [...]

Russell Martin Sitting On Friday rotoballer.com Fri 5/11/18 1:12 PM

Toronto Blue Jays catcher Russell Martin has been playing pretty solid baseball as of late, but he'll be getting the night off for the opener of the team's series against the Boston Red Sox on Friday. After a very slow start to the season, Martin has hit two home runs in his last five games, and has a total of three in his last seven. For the season, he's slashing an underwhelming .151/.277/.360 with five home runs, 12 runs scored, and 11 RBI. The numbers overall may not be fantastic, but at the[...]

Russell Martin Hits Fifth Dinger rotoballer.com Fri 5/11/18 6:21 AM

At a fantasy position that produces next-to-nothing, Toronto Blue Jays catcher Russell Martin may be a beacon of hope to those attempting to find something halfway decent. Martin crushed one over the fence on Thursday for his fifth home run of the year. It was his second jack in the last five games, and his third in the last seven. Martin is slashing a meager .151/.277/.360 with 12 runs scored and 11 RBI, but keep in mind how slow he started in 2017 as well before catching fire in mid-late May. [...]

Russell Martin May Be Getting Hot rotoballer.com Tue 5/1/18 5:18 AM

For the last few seasons, Toronto Blue Jays catcher Russell Martin seems to start the season ice cold, only to follow it up with a very solid May and beyond. [...]

2018 Catchers - Early Points League Rankings and Tiers rotoballer.com Mon 1/29/18 2:30 AM

This article references Austin Barnes, Austin Hedges, Blake Swihart, Brian McCann, Buster Posey, Cameron Rupp, Christian Yelich, Devin Mesoraco, Evan Gattis, Francisco Mejia, Gary Sanchez, J.T. If you play in a head-to-head points league, or season long format, you already know how difficult it can be to find fantasy analysis tailored to the format. Not only are the traditional rotisserie and head-to-head arrangements more popular, but the very nature of points leagues makes them difficult to cover in a general sense because they carry significantly more variance in terms of settings. Niche audience or no, there are still plenty of folks out there who love the format, and y'all dese[...]Keep on reading: 2018 Catchers - Early Points League Rankings and Tiers

With the holidays in the rearview mirror, it's time to turn our attention to the upcoming fantasy baseball season. (Or, if you're me, it's finally time to start writing about it now that people aren't focused on the vastly inferior but more popular fantasy sport that is football). Our first round of rankings comes to you courtesy of Pierre Camus and Jeff Kahntroff, in addition to yours truly. The opening round of rankings presents the highest degree of difficulty, for a variety of reasons. Wi[...]Keep on reading: 2018 Fantasy Baseball Tiered Rankings: Catcher

Russell Martin Won't Play Against Red Sox Monday rotoballer.com Mon 9/25/17 11:46 AM

Toronto Blue Jays catcher Russell Martin is not in the starting lineup Monday. It looks like he's just receiving a normal day off. Luke Maile is behind the plate and is batting ninth against Red Sox starter Drew Pomeranz. Maile has done next to nothing with the lumber this year (.136 average, two ho[...]

Russell Martin Out Thursday rotoballer.com Thu 9/21/17 11:47 AM

Toronto Blue Jays catcher Russell Martin is receiving the day off Thursday. Luke Maile is starting behind the plate and is hitting eighth against Royals starter Jason Vargas. Even though Vargas has slowed down tremendously in the second half, Maile isn't much of a DFS option, hitting just .138 with [...]
