White Sox general manager Chris Getz said Thursday that Grossman may join the MLB roster within the next week, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

Grossman has been on fire to start the season at Triple-A Charlotte. going 3-for-7 with two home runs and five RBI across Charlotte's first two games. There's no telling exactly when the 34-year-old will join the active roster, but Getz lauded Grossman as being an accomplished hitter in the majors and emphasized his ability to play multiple outfield positions, so a move could come sooner rather than later.

Grossman signed a minor-league contract with the White Sox on Friday that includes an invite to big-league camp, LaMond Pope of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Grossman was unable to land a contract throughout the offseason but will join Chicago in the final stages of spring training. The veteran outfielder played in 115 games for the Rangers last season and had a .238/.340/.394 slash line with 10 home runs. He'll likely begin the campaign with Triple-A Charlotte before potentially getting a look with the big club given how late he signed.

Grossman remains out of the lineup Tuesday for Game 3 of the ALDS against the Orioles.

Texas will ride the hot hand with Mitch Garver, who is again filling the DH role and batting third after going 2-for-6 with a grand slam and five total RBI in Sunday's 11-8, Game 2 victory over Baltimore. Grossman is 2-for-14 with eight strikeouts so far this postseason.

It makes him a curious choice for the DH spot versus and especially the three hole vs. righty Tyler Glasnow, but he's nonetheless manager Bruce Bochy's choice over Mitch Garver.

Grossman started in left field and went 0-for-1 with two walks in Monday's 5-1 win over the Angels.

Grossman, who made his first start in nearly a week, was eventually replaced by Evan Carter when righty relievers came in to pitch. Grossman's plate appearances have ticked down since injured Rangers returned to the lineup last week. He's now the short side of a platoon in left field with Carter. Grossman's made eight plate appearances over the last seven games.

Grossman is not in Wednesday's lineup against the Red Sox.

EDGE Analysis

With Adolis Garcia and Josh Jung back in the fold, Grossman's run as a semi-regular may be at an end. He should still get some starts at designated hitter and in left field, but Evan Carter looks poised to get the majority of left-field starts, especially against righties, and Mitch Garver is starting at designated hitter for the second time in the last three games.

Grossman isn't in the starting lineup for Monday's game against Boston.
