Ramon Santiago has won a spot on the Reds' Opening Day roster. Santiago, a non-roster invitee, owns an underwhelming .243/.311/.330 batting line in the majors, but he can play all over the diamond. The 34-year-old will serve as a backup infielder for Cincinnati.

Reds signed INF Ramon Santiago to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. Santiago can earn $1.1 million if he makes the Reds' Opening Day roster and remains on it all year. He batted just .224/.298/.288 in 80 games last season for the Tigers, but the 34-year-old can play all over the infield.

Multiple teams have expressed interest in Ramon Santiago, according to MLB Daily Dish's Chris Cotillo. Santiago's decision could come soon, Cotillo adds. The 33-year-old slashed an anemic .224/.298/.288 over 234 plate appearances for the Tigers in 2013, but he's valued for his defensive versatility. Santiago, who has spent the last eight years in Detroit, can fill in at second, third and shortstop.

Ramon Santiago came off the bench to hit his first homer since June 9, 2012 off the Royals' Aaron Crow on Friday. It was Santiago's first at-bat in eight days, as he's been limited by a hamstring problem. The homer was the utilityman's 28th in 2,181 career at-bats.

Ramon Santiago played in Thursday's game as a defensive replacement. It's the second straight game he's come into defensively. Santiago hasn't started in a week due to a hamstring issue, but it appears he'll avoid the DL.

Ramon Santiago left Thursday's game against the Indians after tweaking something behind his left knee. Santiago thinks he'll be fine. The Tigers would probably like for him to sit out a game or two just to be safe, but they might not have that luxury with Jose Iglesias (toe) also banged up.

Ramon Santiago had a rough night at the dish in Friday's loss to the Royals, going 0-for-2 with a pair of strikeouts. Santiago has seen an uptick in his playing time with Omar Infante on the disabled list, but simply hasn't delivered. The veteran infielder is hitting a hugely disappointing .157/.231/.241 on the season.

ESPN's Buster Olney reports that the Tigers are willing to trade Ramon Santiago. Santiago is currently slated to serve as the club's backup middle infielder. The 33-year-old is good with the glove but is a career .245/.313/.334 and will make $2.1 million this season, so it shouldn't cost much to get him.

Ramon Santiago (calf) is hoping to make his Grapefruit League debut within the next couple days. Santiago has been sidelined all camp with a strained right calf. He went through full batting practice Wednesday, though, and looks ready to test it out in game action.

Ramon Santiago (calf) will begin stretching and agility exercises. Santiago has been dealing with a strained calf since early on in camp, but he's starting to feel better. It doesn't sound like he's close to being game-ready, though.
