Phillippe Aumont has won a spot in the Phillies' Opening Day bullpen. He beat out Michael Stutes, who will likely be optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. The Phillies have also announced that Rule 5 pick Ender Inciarte and Humberto Quintero have made the Opening Day roster.

Phillippe Aumont recorded his first major league save despite giving up a run in the ninth Monday against the Reds. Jonathan Papelbon had the day off after Sunday night's blown save and loss. Aumont couldn't hack it as a starter, but he has closer potential with his 94-98 mph fastball and sharp curve. It'd be a big lift to the Phillies' chances if he turns into a quality setup man next year.

Aumont had a nice bounce-back season in 2011, posting a 2.68 ERA and 78/25 K/BB ratio over 53 2/3 innings between Double- and Triple-A. The Phillies have finally given up on the idea of him starting, and he has closer-upside as a reliever. Aumont was one of the key pieces acquired in the Cliff Lee deal during the 2009 offseason.
