Noonan is out of the lineup Sunday against the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
Noonan has started three straight since his Padres debut Thursday, but will take a seat in favor of Alexei Ramirez for the Sunday afternoon showdown. The 27-year-old has struck out in four of his first 10 at-bats with San Diego, but will have plenty of chances to right the ship the rest of the way out.

Noonan will make his debut for the Padres on Thursday against the Pirates, starting at shortstop and hitting seventh.
EDGE Analysis
He was summoned from Triple-A on Wednesday with the expectation that he would see the bulk of the starts at shortstop for the Padres over the rest of the season. The 32nd overall pick in 2007, Noonan's career has not gone as he would have hoped, with just 135 career plate appearances in the big leagues. Noonan's Triple-A numbers were impressive, slashing .321/.353/.445 with four home runs in 87 games, but as a 27-year-old in the Pacific Coast League, it's hard to take those numbers at face value. He will get his chance to make a name for himself down the stretch with the Padres it seems, but for now he is best reserved for NL-only leagues and deep mixers.

Noonan, whose contract was selected from Triple-A on Wednesday, is expected to get the bulk of the playing time at shortstop for the Padres going forward, MLB.com's AJ Cassavell reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Padres have been pretty obvious in their attempts to phase Alexei Ramirez out of regular playing time in an effort to get a look at their younger players, so this makes sense. Noonan, 27, was hitting .321/.353/.445 with four home runs at Triple-A, but he is not a prospect, and is on his third organization while only having 135 career plate appearances in the big leagues under his belt. That said, the fact that he qualifies at shortstop and is in line for regular at-bats makes him interesting in NL-only formats.

Noonan's contract was selected by the Padres on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
A 27-year-old journeyman minor leaguer with just 135 career plate appearances in the majors, Noonan was hitting .321/.353/.445 with four home runs in 335 plate appearances for Triple-A El Paso prior to the promotion. He will take the place of Jose Rondon and could earn somewhat regular playing time at shortstop, considering the Padres seem to have soured on Alexei Ramirez.

The Padres reassigned Noonan to minor league camp Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Noonan put pen to paper on a minor league contract with the Padres in mid-February, but an invitation to spring training didn't yield the desire outcome. Still, he slashed .278/.350/.333 with one RBI and six runs scored in 18 at-bats, which could help the middle infielder make an appearance in the majors at some point during the upcoming season.

Noonan signed a minor league contract with the Padres on Wednesday that includes an invite to major league spring training, Dennis Lin of the Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
The former Giants infielder and San Diego native will be a non-roster invitee for Padres' upcoming spring training, where he'll compete against four other NRI infield candidates in addition to more established players for a spot on the roster. Noonan's left-handed bat would theoretically be a nice addition to the Padres' predominantly right-handed lineup, but the offseason signing of Alexei Ramirez makes Noonan a long shot at making the Opening Day roster.

Giants optioned INF Nick Noonan and OF Roger Kieschnick to Triple-A Fresno. Neither cut comes as a surprise. Both players logged significant time at the big league level last season and should make it up again at some point in 2014.

Giants optioned INF Nick Noonan to Triple-A Fresno. Noonan's stay with the Giants lasted just one game, as the injury to Matt Cain has forced their hand, requiring another pitcher on the roster. He'll continue to serve as organizational depth at Triple-A, where he's hitting .213/.255/.236 in 89 at-bats.
