Walker will not start against lefty Logan Allen and the Padres on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Walker remains primarily in a platoon role for the Marlins. Yadiel Rivera takes over at third base in his absence. The Marlins line up to face three more lefties this week, so Walker may continue to sit frequently.

Walker is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Nationals, Andre Fernandez of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Marlins will wrap up their series in Washington with an early game, so Walker will just be receiving some routine maintenance while Garrett Cooper spells him at first base. In his eight games since returning from a quadriceps injury in late June, Walker has gone 3-for-24 with a home run, three RBI and four runs.

Walker went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in a 9-6 victory over the Phillies on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The 33-year-old was key to the Marlins' comeback, as he smashed a two-run homer to pull Miami within three in the sixth inning and then added another RBI on a single in the seventh to make the score 6-5. Walker then scored the go-ahead run a few batters after his single. Walker doesn't have the same pop he once did, but he is hitting .280 with five homers, 17 RBI, 15 runs and two steals in 164 at-bats this season.

EDGE Analysis
After going 0-for-4 in his first game back from the injured list Tuesday, Walker will retreat to the bench Wednesday with left-hander Patrick Corbin starting for the Nationals. In his place, Garrett Cooper is starting at first base and hitting third.

Walker (quadriceps) got the start at third base for High-A Jupiter on Sunday, going 0-for-3 with two strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
He began the rehab stint Saturday, and Walker isn't expected to need much work before rejoining the big-league roster. It's interesting that the Marlins had the veteran play the hot corner on his rehab assignment, as he has played first base exclusively this year so far, but it could be an indication he'll be transitioning to a utility role with Garrett Cooper hitting well and a better defensive fit at first base than an outfield corner. Walker could be activated as soon as Tuesday.

Walker (quadriceps) has resumed a throwing and hitting progression recently, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Walker has been on the shelf since May 31 with a right quadriceps strain and seems to have progressed as anticipated, though he remains without a concrete timetable for a return. He'll likely need to bat and play first base in a simulated or minor-league rehab game before the Marlins sign off on his return from the 10-day injured list.
