Wieters is out of the lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Wieters started the last four games with Yadier Molina (thumb) landing on the injured list and went 5-for-15 with two home runs, two doubles and four RBI. The 33-year-old will get Sunday to rest while Andrew Knizner enters the lineup for his major-league debut.

Wieters went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored Thursday against the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
Wieters took Jerad Eickhoff deep in the second inning for his third home run of the season and second in as many games. He got consecutive starts behind the dish with Yadier Molina nursing a bruised thumb, and took advantage by going 4-for-8 with two homers, three RBI and three runs scored. However, Wieters had accrued only 26 plate appearances prior to this series and as soon as Molina is healthy again his role will be limited once again.

Wieters will start at catcher and bat sixth Thursday against the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
Wieters will draw back-to-back starts for the first time all season while Yadier Molina remains day-to-day with a thumb injury. The Cardinals haven't suggested that Molina is at risk of a trip to the injured list, so it shouldn't be long before Wieters slides back into a lightly used No. 2 role behind the dish. Wieters at least made the most of his start in Wednesday's 11-4 loss, going 2-for-3 with a home run, double, walk and two RBI.

Wieters went 1-for-2 with a solo home run Tuesday against the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
Wieters entered the game as a defensive replacement in the sixth inning with the Phillies up eight. He took advantage of the unexpected playing time, leading off the sixth inning with a deep home run to right field for his first of the season and as a Cardinal. Wieters has played sparingly early this season -- he has just 17 at-bats -- limiting his fantasy value, though he has recorded six hits and six RBI in the small sample.

Wieters went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI singles in a win over the Brewers on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Wieters made good use of another spot start, generating his second multi-RBI outing of the season with a pair of timely hits. The veteran has actually logged just two starts thus far this season, as Yadier Molina is usually adverse to taking any time off behind the dish. Nevertheless, manager Mike Shildt will give Molina periodic days off, and any extra offense Wieters can provide during those opportunities will be a welcome bonus.

Wieters went 1-for-3 with three RBI and a stolen base in Thursday's win over the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
Wieters plated a run in the second inning on a sacrifice fly to left, and he brought home two more in the fifth on a single to right that gave his team an 8-7 lead. Yadier Molina is expected to start most games behind the dish, so unless he goes down with an injury, Wieters shouldn't be expected to see regular at-bats.

Wieters will start at catcher and hit eighth Thursday against the Dodgers, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
With ironman Yadier Molina finally getting a breather after starting each of the Cardinals' 12 games at catcher, Wieters will crack the lineup for the first time all season. Unless Molina succumbs to an injury at some point, it's difficult to envision Wieters seeing enough at-bats to warrant ownership in NL-only leagues or deeper mixed formats that start two catchers.

Manager Mike Shildt announced Friday that Wieters will be added to the 40-man roster and will serve as the Cardinals' backup catcher, Mark Saxon of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wieters joined St. Louis on a minor-league deal in late February and figured to open the season as Yadier Molina's backup, but nothing was official until Friday. The 32-year-old provides a more significant backup presence than the Cardinals have had in previous years, but Molina's workload and Wieters' .230/.303/.355 slash line over the past two seasons should result in limited fantasy value.

Wieters agreed to a minor-league contract with the Cardinals on Tuesday, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
EDGE Analysis
The deal is expected to be officially announced Wednesday. Following the offseason departure of Carson Kelly, Wieters figures to step in as the new favorite to open the season as the Cardinals' backup catcher. He could ultimately open the season in a starting role if Yadier Molina (knee) isn't ready to go by Opening Day. Either way, the 32-year-old doesn't figure to hold much fantasy value in 2019 given his combined .230/.303/.355 slash line over the past two seasons (199 games).

Wieters is not in the lineup Sunday against the Rockies, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wieters sat two of the past three games, but went 1-for-4 with a walk and a run scored Saturday. He'll get Sunday off, finishing the season with a .704 OPS to go with 30 RBI. Spencer Kieboom will take a turn behind the dish to replace him in the season finale.
