Matt Harrison (back) allowed two runs on three hits and a walk over two innings in a rain-shortened rehab start with Double-A Frisco Thursday. Harrison labored through a 31-pitch first inning, allowing three extra-base hits and a walk. He then settled in with a perfect second frame before a leadoff double in the third, at which point the skies opened up. Harrison had been slated to throw 65 pitches or four innings but wound up only getting his pitch count up to 41. He was throwing in the 89-90 mph range, which was down from the 90-93 mph he was sitting at in Arizona. Harrison is aiming to rejoin the Rangers' rotation on April 23.

Matt Harrison (back) will make a minor league rehab start Thursday with Double-A Frisco. Harrison, who dealt with neck and back tightness during spring training, is slated to throw four innings. He'll likely need at least a couple more starts before coming off the disabled list, but he has a chance to join the Rangers' rotation in mid-April if all goes well.

Rangers placed LHP Matt Harrison on the 15-day disabled list with a back injury. Harrison has made a couple Cactus League starts and should be ready to rejoin the Rangers' rotation by mid-April. He was limited to only two starts last season due to back issues.

Matt Harrison allowed four runs on five hits over three innings of work in a loss to the Astros on Friday. A disastrous first inning in which Harrison gave up all four runs -- three on a Chris Carter homer -- was followed by two scoreless innings, so it wasn't all bad. In total, the southpaw allowed five hits and two walks while striking out two. He's still working his way back from neck issues earlier in spring, so it'll be a few more weeks before we can expect to see Harrison in Texas.

Matt Harrison yielded three runs in 1 2/3 innings Monday in a Cactus League start against the Royals. Only two of the runs were earned, but Harrison was not sharp. His fastball sat in the upper 80s and the Royals kept him from covering the two full innings that he was originally scheduled to pitch. Harrison began experiencing renewed back and neck issues in late February and will open the season on the 15-day disabled list.

Matt Harrison (back, neck) threw 47 pitches in a successful live batting practice session on Friday and is scheduled to work two innings against the Royals on Monday. It still seems likely that he'll begin the regular season on the disabled list, but should be an option for the Rangers rotation within the first few weeks. The 28-year-old left-hander offers little in the way of fantasy upside with his low strikeout totals, but could be worth a gamble in the final rounds of mixed league drafts.

Matt Harrison (back, neck) returned to action by hurling one scoreless inning against the Royals on Tuesday. He experienced no issues and needed only 11 pitches to escape, despite allowing a single. The southpaw was shut down early in camp due to neck and back stiffness. Harrison is likely to begin the season on the disabled list, but he should be ready to join the Rangers' rotation at some point in April.

Matt Harrison (back, neck) will pitch one inning on a B-game on Tuesday. It's an important step for Harrison, who was shut down early on in camp due to neck and back stiffness. The southpaw remains likely to begin the season on the disabled list, but he could be ready to join the Rangers' rotation at some point in April if all goes well.

Gerry Fraley of the Dallas Morning News reports that Matt Harrison (back/neck) is likely to open the season on the disabled list. Harrison hasn't ruled out Opening Day himself, but the Rangers appear ready to proceed more cautiously. "We're slow-pacing him," manager Ron Washington said. The left-hander said he was "very encouraged" with a live batting practice session Friday, which was the first time he threw to hitters since being shut down in mid-February with back and neck tightness. He'll throw a bullpen session Sunday before appearing in a "B" game Tuesday.

Matt Harrison (back) will throw a live batting practice session Friday. Harrison had no issues during a 38-pitch bullpen session on Wednesday, which was his first since being shut down with back an neck stiffness. The left-hander will be ready to appear in a "B" game shortly after Friday's live BP session. Harrison remains hopeful of being ready by Opening Day.
