Matt Carpenter Knocks Three Hits on Sunday rotoballer.com Sun 8/25/19 11:29 PM

St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter had an excellent game on Sunday, going 3-for-4 with a home run, a walk, and two singles. He drove in two runs and scored three. The home run was the 12th of the season for Carpenter, who moved his line up to .218/.328/.375. It's been a rough year for "Carp" but he showed what he's capable of in this one. If he has another good game or two, he may be worth looking into in deeper formats.

Matt Carpenter Continues To Ride Pine rotoballer.com Sat 8/24/19 4:54 PM

St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter is out of the starting lineup for the third straight game on Saturday. Tommy Edman is at the hot corner again and is hitting seventh against Rockies starter Chi Chi Gonzalez. Carp has been a disaster this year and is hitting .212/.323/.363 with 11 home runs, 48 runs, 33 RBI and six steals on the year. He's been much worse since returning from his injury and might play only sparingly down the stretch. Look for better options in shallow mixed ...

Matt Carpenter Sitting Out Again rotoballer.com Fri 8/23/19 5:52 PM

St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter is not in the lineup for the second straight day on Friday. Tommy Edman is at third base again and will hit seventh against Rockies starter Peter Lambert. Carp has been atrocious since returning from his injury and has just never really hit a stride all season. As a result, it looks like St. Louis will keep him on the bench more regularly. Edman will be the beneficiary and is worth a look in NL-only leagues. He's not the greatest DFS play, ...

Matt Carpenter Out of the Lineup on Thursday rotoballer.com Thu 8/22/19 2:13 PM

St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter (rest) is not in the lineup for Thursday's series opener against the Rockies. The 33-year-old is stuck in a 9-for-46 slump over the past month and is batting just .105 over the past week, so he will sit for the second time in three games. Carpenter's overall numbers in 2019 are not much better with totals of 11 home runs, 33 RBI, and a .212 batting average through 97 games. Carpenter can safely be dropped in standard mixed leagues if he has not ...

Matt Carpenter Riding Pine Thursday rotoballer.com Thu 8/22/19 1:59 PM

St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter is not in the starting lineup on Thursday. Tommy Edman is at the hot corner and is batting seventh against Rockies starter German Marquez. Carp has been putrid all year (.212/.321/.363 with 11 homers and 33 RBI) and hasn't shown any signs of pulling out of his season-long slump, which could cause him to lose more playing time down the stretch with the Cardinals fighting for the division. It's probably time to move on in shallow mixed leagues if...

Matt Carpenter is Out Against Lefty rotoballer.com Sun 8/11/19 12:07 PM

St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter (rest) is out of the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. This appears to be a routine day off for Carpenter against the left-handed starter. Yairo Munoz will play third base and bat sixth versus lefty Steven Brault. Munoz has been slumping with the bat lately, so he's not a great DFS option here.

St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter (back, foot) has been activated from the 10-day injured list on Sunday. Matt Carpenter to Resume His Rehab Assignment rotoballer.com Tue 7/30/19 5:28 PM

St. Louis Cardinals infielder Matt Carpenter (foot) is scheduled to resume his rehab assignment with Triple-A Memphis this week. Carpenter has been on the injured list since July 16 with a right foot contusion. He's gone 0-for-19 in his first six rehab games and the Cardinals will certainly want to see something from him before adding him back to the big league roster. There's no specific timetable for when he'll be back in the lineup, but it's safe to assume he'll need at least a few more mino[...]

Matt Carpenter Expected to Be Activated Friday rotoballer.com Mon 7/22/19 6:03 PM

St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter (foot) is expected to be activated from the 10-day injured list when eligible on Friday. He is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment on Tuesday and get in some at-bats in the minors. Yairo Munoz has been hitting very well at third base in the absence of Carpenter. However, the Cardinals are expected to give Carpenter back his job at third base despite his down year at the plate. Munoz will lose significant value once Carpenter is activated.
