Marco Scutaro admitted that his back tightened up on him late during Saturday's game. It's not unexpected, as Scutaro still isn't 100 percent and was playing in his first game of the season. He's essentially going to be day-to-day for the rest of the season, but the Giants are hoping he'll be able to gut it out without going back on the DL. "I know my back is not 100 percent," Scutaro said. "I'll just try to fight through it, day by day, and go from there."

Marco Scutaro has returned to the Giants starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Diamondbacks. Scutaro has missed the entire season thus far due to a recurring back injury. While he will be eased back into action, he makes for an interesting target in deeper mixed, and NL-only formats.

Giants activated INF Marco Scutaro from the 60-day disabled list. Scutaro is not in the Giants lineup on Friday, but will be available as a pinch hitter off the bench. He's worth a look as a middle infield option in deeper mixed league formats.

The Giants plan to activate Marco Scutaro (back) from the disabled list on Saturday. There was a prevailing thought that he would rejoin the team on Friday, but it looks as though he needed an extra day. Expect him to rejoin the Giants starting lineup and make his season debut on Saturday.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy indicated Tuesday that the club is optimistic Marco Scutaro (back) will have a bigger role than initially expected upon his return. Scutaro is feeling great during his rehab assignment to the point that Bochy thinks the second baseman could play more than the 2-4 games per week the team was initially anticipating. The veteran infielder could be activated later this week.

Marco Scutaro (back) has moved his rehab assignment up to Triple-A Fresno. Scutaro picked up two hits and two walks over 14 plate appearances with the Arizona League Giants. The second baseman thinks he's ready to return now, but the club wants him to show he can play a full game first. Scutaro should be activated soon if he can avoid a setback.

Marco Scutaro (back) could move his minor league rehab assignment to Triple-A Fresno on Sunday. Scutaro had two hits Wednesday in his second rehab game in the rookie-level Arizona League. He's on the long road to recovery from a chronic back injury that required a blood-spinning procedure in mid-May. If all goes well from here on out, the veteran second baseman could return to the Giants' active roster late next week, but his days of being an everyday player could be over.
