Luetge was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma on Friday. He will serve as another lefty in the Mariners' bullpen in the short term, but with several more accomplished relievers already on the roster, Luetge is unlikely to be used in many high-leverage spots. For the second year in a row, Luetge failed to make the roster out of spring training. He'll likely bounce between Tacoma and Seattle again this year. Luetge's fate was perhaps sealed last week after consecutive poor outings in which he gave up three runs and five hits in 1.2 innings. Rafael Perez was also cut, leaving David Rollins, Tyler Olson and Joe Saunders competing for the second lefty role behind Charlie Furbush. There's no guarantee, though, the Mariners keep two left-handers.
