Cain is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
Cain will take a seat for the second time in the series, allowing Tyrone Taylor to pick up another turn in center field. The 36-year-old is one of several Milwaukee regulars who has gotten off to a slow start to begin the 2022 campaign; he's gone 3-for-19 while appearing in six of the Brewers' first nine contests.

Cain is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
Cain started in center field Opening Day but has alternated starts with Tyrone Taylor every game since, and that trend will continue Friday after Cain went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in Thursday's series opener.

Cain is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
The Brewers will face a left-handed starting pitcher (Bruce Zimmermann) for the second time in their first four games, with Cain having now sat on both occasions. Though Cain bats from the right side, manager Craig Counsell may prefer to have the righty-hitting Tyrone Taylor pick up starts out of center field when the platoon advantage is in his favor. Taylor also started in place of Cain in Saturday's 9-0 loss to the Cubs, going 0-for-3 with a walk.

EDGE Analysis
Cain went 1-for-3 with a double, two RBI, a run and a strikeout Thursday, but he'll get a breather Saturday. Tyrone Taylor will start in center field and bat sixth.

Cain went 1-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI in Thursday's loss to the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Cain came to the plate with the bases loaded and only one out in the fourth inning, though he only managed to ground out to drive in one runner. He followed that up with a sacrifice fly in the eighth frame to begin his season with a multi-RBI performance. Despite the strong production, Cain was hitting eighth in the lineup and projects to remain in the bottom half of the order unless a number of key hitters are sidelined for Milwaukee.

Cain is set to play in his first spring training game Tuesday against the White Sox, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cain was noticeably dinged up in Milwaukee's 2021 postseason series against Atlanta, dealing with shooting pain from his neck down to his left arm due to a collision with the outfield fence, but he's ready to make his spring debut after a much-needed offseason. The outfielder will continue to serve as the everyday centerfielder for Milwaukee, though the 35-year-old would figure to be in line for plenty of rest to help alleviate some of the toll an MLB season takes on a veteran player, especially one who has appeared in only 83 games since 2019 after opting out of the 2020 shortened season.

Cain is starting in center field and batting eighth Tuesday in Game 4 of the NLDS against Atlanta despite the fact he is dealing with shooting pain from his neck down his left arm, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
He almost made one of the best catches of his career in Game 3, when he tracked a ball into the right-center gap and caught it while running full speed into the outfield fence and stanchion before dropping the ball as he crashed to the ground. Cain needed a few minutes to get right before remaining in Monday's game and is getting treatment prior to Thursday's game.

With the Brewers already being locked into their playoff positioning, manager Craig Counsell will rest several veterans for the regular-season finale. Along with Cain, fellow lineup regulars Christian Yelich, Kolten Wong and Eduardo Escobar will sit Sunday. Jackie Bradley replaces Cain in center field.
