Cubs placed RHP Kyuji Fujikawa on the 15-day disabled list with a right forearm strain. Fujikawa left Sunday's appearance against the Reds with the injury. It's the same injury that sent him to the disabled list last month, so there has to be some concern. The Cubs plan to send him for an MRI on Tuesday. Kevin Gregg has the clear paths to save in Chicago for the time being.

Kyuji Fujikawa was removed Sunday's game against the Reds with a right forearm strain. Fujikawa was taken out of the game in the ninth inning after giving up a walk to Joey Votto. It's the same injury that he dealt with earlier this season. Fujikawa will be examined Monday in Chicago and is expected to be placed on the disabled list

Kyuji Fujikawa struck out two in a perfect inning Friday versus the Mets. Kevin Gregg is safe in the closer's role for now, but it's worth noting that Fujikawa has allowed just one hit in four scoreless innings and posted a 6/0 K/BB ratio since coming off the disabled list last week. He's next in line for saves if Gregg falters.

Cubs activated RHP Kyuji Fujikawa from the 15-day disabled list. Fujikawa missed nearly a month of action with a strained right forearm. Kevin Gregg has settled into the Cubs' closer role, but he's far from a sure bet to keep it, so Fujikawa is a good roster stash.

Kyuji Fujikawa (forearm) tossed two scoreless innings Wednesday during a minor league rehab appearance with Double-A Tennessee. Fujikawa gave up one hit and didn't walk or strike out a batter. He threw 10 out of 16 pitches for strikes. Barring any setbacks, he should rejoin the Cubs' bullpen later this week. He's expected to pitch as a set-up man in front of newly-named closer Kevin Gregg.

Kyuji Fujikawa (forearm) will pitch in a set-up role when he returns from the disabled list. Fujikawa was the Cubs' closer when he landed on the disabled list last month, but Kevin Gregg has emerged as the club's ninth-inning man during his absence. We still think Fujikawa will get saves chances eventually, but it's probably not a bad idea to ease him back into things and get some success under his belt.

Kyuji Fujikawa's (forearm) rehab appearance with Double-A Tennessee on Tuesday was rained out. He'll make an appearance on Wednesday instead. Fujikawa remains on target to return from the disabled list this weekend.

Kyuji Fujikawa (forearm) will make his next rehab appearance Tuesday with Double-A Tennessee. Fujikawa struck out two and walked one over a scoreless inning of work Sunday in his first rehab appearance with Triple-A Iowa. He could be cleared to rejoin the Cubs' bullpen if all goes well Tuesday. The Japanese right-hander should get the closer role back relatively quickly, which means that Kevin Gregg will move to a set-up role.

Kyuji Fujikawa (forearm) will begin a rehab assignment Sunday at Triple-A Iowa. He's scheduled to throw 25 pitches in his first game since being place on the disabled list. If he can avoid setbacks, Fujikawa should rejoin the Cubs within the next 5-7 days. He'll initially serve as a setup man to new closer Kevin Gregg

Kyuji Fujikawa (forearm) threw his second successful bullpen session on Thursday morning. If he wakes up on Friday with no abnormal pain or discomfort, Fujikawa will likely be sent to Triple-A Iowa over the weekend to begin making minor league rehab appearances. The right-hander landed on the disabled list April 14 with a right forearm strain. He should be back in the Cubs' bullpen within the next several days to serve as a setup man for new closer Kevin Gregg.
