Kyle Blanks (Achilles) jogged for 15 minutes on a treadmill Thursday. It's the first time he's done any running since being placed on the disabled list just over a month ago. Blanks' return date remains up in the air. "It's not serious running, but it's a step in the right direction," said Blanks. "I'm just trying to get my feet back under me and make sure everything is good. . It's not something that I want to rush into because I feel like I will only get one chance to get it right. To this point it feels pretty good."

Kyle Blanks (Achilles) won't try running until Thursday. The Padres had been hoping he could test things out while they were in Colorado, but they'll wait until they return home. Blanks has missed the last 25 games. "He's feeling better, but we've decided to wait until we get back home," manager Bud Black said. "The soreness is decreasing."

Kyle Blanks (Achilles) will attempt to resume running when the Padres are in Colorado next week. Blanks has been sidelined since July 11 with tendinitis in both Achilles tendons. There should be a better idea about a timetable for his return once he resumes running, but he's still likely a couple of weeks away.

Kyle Blanks (Achilles) is not close to returning to the Padres. "It's bothersome, sore," Padres manager Bud Black said Monday of Blanks' Achilles tendons. "The doctors looked at him today and said it would be a couple of weeks. I'm not sure if that means he'll play in a big-league game in two weeks or if it means he can put on his spikes. Honestly, I don't think he'll be in the lineup in two weeks." Blanks has been sidelined since mid-July, and it appears it will be at least well into August before he returns.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Mariners are interested in Kyle Blanks. The problem is that Blanks is dealing with tendinitis in both Achilles tendons and has no timetable for a return. The outfielder/first baseman is also making just $605,000 this season and is under team control through 2015, so it remains to be seen if the Padres would have any interest in dealing him.

Kyle Blanks (Achilles) will not return from the disabled list when first eligible on Saturday. Blanks has been out since mid-July with tendinitis in both Achilles tendons, and it doesn't sound like he'll return anytime soon. "There is no timetable on him going out for a rehab assignment," said Padres manager Bud Black. "This hasn't gone as quick as I thought," Blanks added. "I'm gaining ground. Actually, the left ankle feels better than the right."

Padres placed OF Kyle Blanks on the 15 day disabled list with Achilles tendinitis. With Yonder Alonso and Jedd Gyorko coming back from the disabled list, Blanks was looking at a large decrease in his plating time regardless of the injury. He had cooled in recent weeks, hitting just .154 (6-for-39) with 12 strikeouts since June 29. Once he's healthy, he'll surely get another opportunity with the Padres at some point this summer.

Kyle Blanks is not listed on the Padres' roster for Friday's game. It's unclear whether he has been optioned to Triple-A or if another move has been made, such as a possible trip to the disabled list. Either way, he has been cleared with the Padres bringing Yonder Alonso and Jedd Gyorko back from the disabled list. There should be an official announcement on Blanks' status soon.

Kyle Blanks hasn't logged a multi-hit game since June 24. On that day, Blanks finished 4-for-5, raising his batting average to .285. He's batted .170/.170/.234 with a 14/0 K/BB rate over 47 plate appearances in 12 games since. Perhaps it's not a surprise that the Padres are 2-10 in those contests. Yank Blanks from your mixed league lineup until he turns things around.

Kyle Blanks played the role of hero Monday night, knocking in three runs in the last two innings and scoring the game-tying run in a wild 4-3, 10-frame victory against the Phillies. Blanks finished 4-for-5, raising his batting average (.285) 16 points in the process. San Diego's offense was more quiet than Teller prior to Blanks' two-run single off Jonathan Papelbon in the ninth inning, which cut Philly's lead to 3-2. Blanks later scored on Carlos Ruiz' passed ball. The big man singled in the 10th with the bases loaded to send San Diego to another come-from-behind-victory.
