Kevin Youkilis had a solo homer off Lance Lynn and a sac fly Monday versus the Cardinals. Youkilis played first base today and could start there on Opening Day, though that's still to be determined. He's 2-for-13 with a couple of walks this spring.

Making his first appearance in six days, Kevin Youkilis went 0-for-3 against the Marlins on Friday, leaving him hitless in six at-bats this spring. The Yankees should just hold Youkilis out for the rest of the spring to make sure he doesn't join Mark Teixeira, Curtis Granderson and Alex Rodriguez on the disabled list. Better to be safe than sorry.

Kevin Youkilis (oblique) is back in the Yankees' lineup Friday. Youkilis had missed the last three contests with a left oblique strain. He's at the hot corner against the Phillies.

Kevin Youkilis was scratched from Tuesday's Grapefruit League game with a left oblique injury. Youkilis will be shut down for a few days, but it's not a serious setback. The Yankees will likely go with Addison Maruszak and Eduardo Nunez at third base until he's ready to return.

Kevin Youkilis plans to revamp his batting stance for 2013. Yankees hitting coach Kevin Long suggested the changes after working with Youkilis last week and watching some video of his hitting from 2008. Known for having one of the most unique batting stances in the game, "Youk" will still have his top hand off his bat as he gets ready to swing, but he plans to have his hands lower and his legs wider apart while being in more of a crouch. The 33-year-old batted .235/.336/.409 with 19 home runs and .745 OPS last season and will handle third base duties with the Bombers until Alex Rodriguez is ready to return from hip surgery.

Yankees signed INF Kevin Youkilis to a one-year, $12 million contract. Youkilis has passed his physical, making the contract official. The 33-year-old reportedly turned down a two-year, $18 million offer from the Indians in order for the bigger one-year score. "Youk" will handle third base until Alex Rodriguez returns from hip surgery and will likely then shift into the DH spot.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Yankees have agreed to a one-year, $12 million contract with free agent third baseman Kevin Youkilis. Youkilis turned down a two-year, $18 million proposal from the Indians in order to return to the American League East. It should be a nice fit for him in New York, where he'll start at third base until Alex Rodriguez returns from mid-January hip surgery. "Youk" hit .235/.336/.409 with 19 home runs and 60 RBI in 122 games this past season between the Red Sox and White Sox.

Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports that the Dodgers have put Kevin Youkilis on the "backburner" Luis Cruz currently projects to open the season as the Dodgers' third baseman, so we wouldn't rule it out, but it's more likely he ends up elsewhere. The Yankees appear to be the favorites at the moment and have reportedly offered him a one-year, $12 million deal. Cafardo hears that the Rangers could also be a possibility. The Indians haven't "closed the door" on Youkilis, even after signing Mark Reynolds.

According to Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Indians have "not closed the door" on signing Kevin Youkilis even after the Mark Reynolds signing. He notes, though, that the reported two-year, $18 million offer they've made to Youkilis has not been on the table for "quite some time." The Indians needed to fill both the first base and DH slots, so they can conceivably bring on both players, but it doesn't sound terribly likely. The Yankees seem to like the favorites to land Youkilis, though the Mariners and Dodgers are also showing interest.

According to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal, the Mariners and Dodgers have shown interest in Kevin Youkilis. The Indians are expected to withdraw their two-year offer for Youkilis following the signing of Mark Reynolds, but there's at least two other teams in the mix with the Yankees. Youkilis is reportedly "still in the process of deciding what he's going to do" and has no timetable for a decision. The 33-year-old is willing to discuss both short-term and multi-year deals this winter after batting .235/.336/.409 with 19 home runs and 60 RBI last season in 122 games between the Red Sox and White Sox.
