Kevin Slowey hurled seven scoreless innings in the Marlins' defeat of the Phillies on Sunday. Slowey allowed just two hits and two walks while fanning seven. He has been a major surprise here in the early part of the 2013 season, boasting a 1.81 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 36/8 K/BB ratio in 44 2/3 innings. The righty faces a tough test next time out against the Dodgers.

Kevin Slowey didn't pick up a win but held the Mets to one run over eight innings in Tuesday's 2-1 victory. Slowey allowed just four hits, struck out a season-high eight and didn't walk anyone. He failed to earn his first win of the season, though, as the Marlins needed a two-run rally in the bottom of the ninth to tally the win. Despite no victories, Slowey boasts a surprising 2.15 ERA and 1.01 WHIP this season. He should be owned in deeper mixed leagues at this point, though his supporting cast obviously holds him back. Slowey pitches in Philly this weekend.

Kevin Slowey pitched well in a no-decision against the Reds on Friday, allowing just one run on four hits over six strong innings. Slowey punched out four on the evening while walking one. He has been a very pleasant surprise in the Marlins rotation in the early going, posting a 1.90 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 15/6 K/BB ratio over 23 2/3 innings. As well as he's pitched, poor offensive support means he'll head into Thursday's start against the Cubs still in search of his first victory. He's starting to be worth a look as a matchup play in deeper mixed leagues.

Kevin Slowey held the Phillies to one run on nine hits and two walks over 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision Sunday. He struck out four. The Phillies had no trouble getting baserunners against the right-hander, but Slowey was able to limit the damage. Slowey boasts a 2.04 ERA through his first three starts this season but is still looking for his first win. He'll try again next weekend in Cincinnati.

Kevin Slowey was a hard-luck loser after allowing two runs in seven innings Monday against the Braves. The Marlins will likely have a bunch of hard-luck losers this season. Slowey, for instance, has an 0-2 record to go along with his 2.19 ERA. With the way he's throwing, he's a viable play in NL-only leagues, particularly in his home starts. His flyball tendencies will lead to bad days in smaller parks.

Kevin Slowey allowed just one run over 5 1/3 innings Wednesday but was the tough-luck loser as the Marlins lost to the Nationals. Slowey, 28, has to be encouraged with the start. He allowed just a solo home run to his counterpart, Gio Gonzalez, for the only scoring against him. After throwing only 59 1/3 innings for the Twins in 2012, Slowey is working to resurrect his career with the Marlins.

Marlins purchased the contract of RHP Kevin Slowey from Triple-A New Orleans. Slowey won the fifth spot in the Marlins' rotation with a strong spring, as he held a 2.41 ERA while striking out nearly a batter per inning. The righty has started just eight games in the majors since 2011, but it wouldn't be too surprising if he winds up being relevant in NL-only leagues.

Kevin Slowey pitched five innings of one-run ball Wednesday in the Marlins' victory over the Red Sox. Slowey, who was named to the rotation yesterday, allowed five hits, walked three and struck out four today. The damage came on a Jonny Gomes homer. Since Slowey is an extreme flyball pitcher, Marlins Ballpark is pretty much ideal for his comeback bid. His fantasy upside is pretty limited, but he might enough of an asset in WHIP to give himself a little value.

Kevin Slowey has won the fifth spot in the Marlins' starting rotation. Jacob Turner was sent to the minors Tuesday while Slowey ultimately got the nod over John Maine. The 28-year-old didn't pitch in the majors at all last season, but he posted a 2.63 ERA and 13/4 K/BB ratio over 13 2/3 innings this spring. He could have some fleeting relevancy in NL-only leagues.

Making his first start of the spring, Kevin Slowey surrendered three runs in three innings Monday against the Red Sox. Slowey pitched 6 1/3 scoreless innings in three appearances out of the pen to earn the assignment today. He's in the running for a rotation spot, but since Wade LeBlanc is off to a fine start, Slowey's chances would seem to hinge on Jacob Turner or Nathan Eovaldi taking a big step backwards and getting demoted.
