FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Nationals will sign infielder Kevin Frandsen. The deal might already be done, as he was in Nats' camp on Wednesday morning. Frandsen opted for free agency on Tuesday after being outrighted off the Phillies' 40-man roster. The 31-year-old will likely land a bench job with the Nationals out of spring training.

Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post reports that the Nationals are interested in Kevin Frandsen. There could be room for him on the bench after the Nats sent down Tyler Moore. Frandsen opted for free agency earlier Tuesday after being outrighted off the Phillies' 40-man roster. Kilgore says there are 1-2 other teams interested in the veteran infielder.

Kevin Frandsen has elected free agency. Frandsen was outrighted off the Phillies' 40-man roster over the weekend and has decided to forfeit his $900,000 salary for 2014 rather than accept an assignment to Triple-A. He'll hope to latch on elsewhere as a bench player.

Phillies sent INF Kevin Frandsen outright to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Frandsen now has 72 hours to accept the assignment or become a free agent. If accepting, he would remain in camp with the Phillies where he still has a chance to crack the Opening Day roster as a reserve infielder.

Phillies and INF Kevin Frandsen avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $900,000 contract. Frandsen gets a slight raise over his $850,000 salary from this past season. The 31-year-old has batted .280/.333/.389 over the past two seasons while playing four different positions. He'll operate in a utility role again in 2014.

Kevin Frandsen hit a walkoff solo home run in the Phillies' win over the Mets on Saturday evening. Jonathan Papelbon coughed up two runs in the top of the ninth inning to blow the Phillies' one-run lead, but Frandsen made everything better with one swing in the bottom of that frame. It was his third home run of the season and the RBI pushed his season total to 11.

Kevin Frandsen hit a two-out, bases-loaded pinch-hit double to give the Phillies a 4-3 win over the Royals on Saturday. Frandsen is a bench player for the Phils but came up big on Saturday. The 30-year-old only had four at-bats as a pinch hitter last season. With two pinch hits already this year, he's quickly growing comfortable in the role.

Kevin Frandsen (wrist) took batting practice Monday but might not be available for the game against the Braves. Frandsen has dealt with some soreness in his left wrist for nearly a week. Consider him day-to-day.

Kevin Frandsen said that he's dealing with some soreness in his left wrist, but that he should be OK. Frandsen was forced to exit Wednesday's game after he was hit by a Justin Verlander fastball, but it sounds like the Phillies pulled him for precautionary reasons. He has the stitchings from the ball imprinted on his wrist, so at least he has a nice souvenir. The 30-year-old is expected to open the season on the Phillies' bench.
