Verlander (10-6) got the win Sunday over the Tigers, allowing just two hits and two walks over five scoreless innings. He struck out seven.
EDGE Analysis
Though he allowed just two hits, Verlander needed 98 pitches to navigate through five frames as the Tigers often worked him deep into the count. The 40-year-old only registered an 18 percent whiff rate and also plunked three batters but was able to power through the command issues and has now thrown 11 consecutive scoreless innings with a 16:3 K:BB. He's lined up for a start against the struggling Yankees next weekend in an inviting home matchup.

Verlander (3-1) earned the win Tuesday, allowing five hits and one walk over six scoreless innings against the Red Sox. He struck out nine.
EDGE Analysis
Fantasy managers got vintage Verlander Tuesday, as the veteran fanned a season-high nine batters while blanking the Red Sox across six frames. The performance was a nice bounceback for Verlander, who had allowed 10 runs and struck out 13 batters during his last three starts (18 innings). He's lined up to make his next appearance during a three-game series rematch against Boston at Fenway Park next week.

Verlander (7-6) earned the win Friday, allowing three runs on six hits and zero walks over six innings in a 11-3 win over the Angels. He struck out seven.
EDGE Analysis
Verlander tossed a quality start and received plenty of run support from the Astros offense to earn his first win since his return to the team at the trade deadline. Since the start of June, Verlander has regained his ace form with a 2.56 ERA and 70 strikeouts over 77.1 innings. He'll look to continue this string of quality performances in his next scheduled start, likely to take place next week in Miami.

Verlander (6-6) took the loss Saturday, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks over seven innings against the Yankees. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
Verlander allowed back-to-back hits to start the bottom of the second, leading to a sacrifice fly from Anthony Volpe for the Yankees' first run of the game. The right-hander would then retire seven of the next nine batters he faced before serving Jake Bauers up with a hanging slider, which the first baseman launched over the wall in right field. Despite taking the loss, it was still a solid debut for Verlander in his return to Houston following the trade. He's now allowed two earned runs or fewer in four consecutive starts and in six of his last seven.

Astros manager Dusty Baker said Verlander is lined up to start Saturday against the Yankees, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Acquired from the Mets just ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline in exchange for prospects Drew Gilbert and Ryan Clifford, the veteran right-hander is all set to go ring chasing again in an Astros uniform. It sounds like Jose Urquidy (shoulder) will come off the 60-day injured list and follow Verlander in Sunday's series finale at Yankee Stadium.

The Astros acquired Verlander from the Mets on Tuesday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
EDGE Analysis
Verlander returns to Houston, where he claimed the AL Cy Young Award in both 2019 and 2022 while working to an overall 2.26 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 825:114 K:BB in 102 starts (652 innings) during his first stint with the organization. He signed a two-year, $86.67 million contract with the Mets this past winter which also carries a $35 million vesting option for 2025. New York will presumably eat some of that cash in order to improve the level of prospects that will be heading over from the Astros' farm system. Those prospects have since been identified as Drew Gilbert and Ryan Clifford.

Verlander (6-5) earned the win Sunday, allowing one run on five hits and one walk over 5.1 innings against the Nationals. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
Verlander turned in another strong start Sunday, snaring his third consecutive win -- and the 250th of his Hall of Fame-worthy career -- while tossing 5.1 innings of one-run ball. After a slow start to the season (4.50 ERA over his first nine appearances), Verlander has found his stride and is 4-1 with a 1.49 ERA across his last seven starts. Assuming the three-time Cy Young Award winner isn't dealt prior to Tuesday's trade deadline, Verlander will likely toe the rubber next against the Orioles at Camden Yards this weekend.

Verlander (5-5) picked up the win Tuesday, allowing two hits and four walks over six scoreless innings in a 9-3 victory over the Yankees. He struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran righty avoided trouble despite throwing just 63 of 98 pitches for strikes, and a pair of Pete Alonso homers gave Verlander all the run support he would need. The quality start was his fourth in five July outings, and on the month he boasts a 1.69 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 27:15 K:BB over 32 innings. Verlander will look to keep rolling in his next start, likely to come at home this weekend against the Nationals -- unless the Mets hold a fire sale before then and trade him.

Verlander (4-5) picked up the win Wednesday in a 5-1 victory over the White Sox, allowing one run on three hits and a walk over eight innings. He struck out seven.
EDGE Analysis
It was a vintage performance for the 40-year-old, as Verlander generated 17 swinging strikes among his 100 pitches while completing eight innings for only the second time this season. The three-time Cy Young Award winner may have turned a corner on what has been a rough campaign to date -- over his last five starts, he's put together a 1.74 ERA and 1.06 WHIP in 31 innings, although his 26:13 K:BB remains well below his usual standards. Verlander is next set to take the mound on the road early next week against the Yankees.

Verlander (3-5) took the loss Friday, giving up three runs on two hits and six walks over five innings as the Mets fell 6-0 to the Dodgers. He struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
The 40-year-old right-hander threw only 59 of 104 pitches for strikes, but Verlander still held Los Angeles off the board until finally cracking in the fifth inning. The six free passes were his most in a start since 2017, as Verlander continues to have trouble putting everything together. In eight starts since the beginning of June, he has a 3.00 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 41:19 K:BB through 45 innings -- solid numbers, but well below his usual standards. If he stays on turn, Verlander's next start would come at home next week against the White Sox.
