Miller is averaging around 95 mph with his fastball this year for Triple-A Syracuse, Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
That's a vast improvement over 2017, when the 30-year-old sat around 90 mph while struggling in the Angels' system, and he credits the bump to offseason work on his mechanics and fitness. Miller's results have matched his improved heat, as he has yet to allow a run through 13.2 innings for Syracuse with a 23:3 K:BB. The Nats just called up one veteran reclamation project in Tim Collins to bolster their bullpen, and Miller -- who has a June 15 opt-out clause in his minor-league contract -- may not be too far behind.

Miller signed a minor-league contract with the Nationals on Friday, Chris Cotillo of SB Nation reports.
EDGE Analysis
Miller failed to break through to the majors with the Angels last year after making 40 appearances with the Rockies in 2016. He earned nine saves with the Angels' Triple-A affiliate, but also had a 5.48 ERA. Now 30, Miller will be a long shot to earn a regular role with Washington at any point in 2018.

Miller was invited to the Angels camp for spring training.
EDGE Analysis
Miller was signed on a minor league deal in November, and the Angels just announced that he received an invitation to spring training. He spent parts of the past two seasons with the Rockies, where he struggled at the hitter-friendly Coors Field. He was still able to average better than a strikeout per inning, and had manageable numbers away from home.

Miller signed a minor league contract with the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
It's unclear if the contract includes an invite to spring training, but he figures to get a look in camp. Miller's 2016 line is marred by poor home numbers, as he was done in by walks and the long ball at Coors Field. However, he still averaged better than a strikeout per inning overall and was significantly better on the road (3.28 FIP).

Miller was outrighted to Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday,
EDGE Analysis
MIller was demoted to Albuquerque on July 26 before being recalled on Sept. 1. He posted a rough 6.75 ERA during his stint in the minors to go along with a 5.70 ERA with the Rockies on the season. The veteran has now been removed from the team's 40-man roster, and will serve as organizational depth for the time being.

Miller (oblique) was activated from the 15-day DL on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
He missed almost two months with the oblique injury, as it seems the Rockies were waiting for rosters to expand to activate him, so as not to need a corresponding move. Miller posted a solid 23.1 percent K-rate in 35.1 innings out of the bullpen earlier this year. However, he also allowed some hard contact and issued more than his fair share of walks. Look for him to pitch primarily in the middle innings down the stretch.

Miller (oblique) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Tuesday, Nick Groke of the Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Miller's recovery progress has been largely off the grid prior to this point, but it seems that the right-hander is at least somewhat close to returning to the Rockies bullpen. He'll likely need a few more bullpen sessions and possibly even a few simulated or minor league rehab appearances, but this development could put him on track for a late-July return.

Miller was placed on the 15-day DL on Tuesday with oblique tightness, Jenny Cavnar of Root Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
It was reported earlier Tuesday that Miller had been optioned, but it turns out that an oblique injury led to his deactivation. Regardless, Miller is now off the 25-man roster and it's uncertain if he'll be able to return July 18 when first eligible.

Miller was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday, Jenny Cavnar of Root Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Miller's overall numbers (5.35 ERA, 1.64 WHIP) have been marred by a few particularly poor outings. His FIP checks in at nearly a full run lower than his ERA, but Miller has been done in by walks and the long ball. He should get another opportunity relatively early on in the second half.

Miller has improved since the start of June, reducing his ERA to 5.46 and his WHIP to 1.58 on the season.
EDGE Analysis
Outside of a rough outing against the Yankees on June 14 where he gave up five runs in only one-third of an inning, Miller has been arguably the strongest member of the Rockies bullpen. Without the nightmare outing on the 14th, the right-hander holds a 1.42 ERA and a 1.11 WHIP in the month of June. He's also striking out batters at a nice clip, sporting a 10.0 K/9 while giving up only one homer since April 27. It seems like Miller has really turned a corner, and as long as he can avoid the horrible outings, he could be a nice source of strikeouts with some upside for holds in the future.
