Brewers optioned RHP Josh Stinson to Triple-A Nashville. Stinson posted a sparkling 0.93 ERA, but his 1.66 WHIP and 4/7 K/BB ratio over 9 2/3 innings were the big reasons that he didn't earn a spot in the Opening Day bullpen. He'll begin the season at Triple-A Nashville, and should see time with the big league club at some point in 2013.

ESPN New York's Adam Rubin reports that the Mets have placed right-hander Josh Stinson on waivers. Stinson made 14 relief appearances at the major league level last year, but he's getting the boot as the Mets plan to add Miguel Batista and Mike Baxter to the 40-man roster. He has good stuff, even though the results haven't always been there, so it wouldn't be surprising to see someone claim him.

Mets recalled RHP Josh Stinson from Double-A Binghamton. Stinson struggled as a starter to begin the season with Triple-A Buffalo, but bounced back nicely in a relief role after being demoted to Double-A Binghamton, posting a 3.99 ERA, six saves and a 39/16 K/BB ratio over 47 1/3 innings. The 23-year-old right-hander sits in the low-to-mid 90s with his fastball and relies on a slider as his secondary pitch. He could be a consideration for the bullpen next season if he impresses down the stretch.

The Mets will recall pitching prospect Josh Stinson from Double-A Binghamton Thursday. Stinson got off to a horrid start this season when used in a starting role, but he's pitched much better since moving back to relief, posting a 3.99 ERA and six saves in eight chances over 27 appearances for Binghamton. He'll likely be used in a mop-up role in September.
