Rockies activated RHP Josh Outman from the 15-day disabled list. Outman had been dealing with sore ribs, but pitched well in his rehab appearance earlier in the week. He'll return to his familiar role in the Rockies bullpen.

Josh Outman (oblique) allowed one run on two hits with three strikeouts Thursday, in a two-inning minor league rehab appearance with Double-A Tulsa. Outman threw 25 of his 36 pitches for strikes and was reportedly clocked in the 97 mph range. "I understand he was electric in the first inning and started to get tired toward the end," Rockies manager Jim Tracy said. "The two hits were more of the seeing-eye variety." Outman is scheduled to pitch again on Saturday before being evaluated for a return to the majors. If all goes well, he could rejoin the Rockies' bullpen by next week.

Josh Outman (oblique) tossed a hitless inning Monday in his latest minor league rehab appearance with Triple-A Colorado Springs. Outman struck out one and threw seven out of 12 pitches for strikes. The 27-year-old southpaw was forced to begin the season on the disabled list due to a vomiting-induced oblique injury, but he should be ready to join the Rockies' bullpen within the next few days.

Josh Outman (oblique) is scheduled to pitch Saturday in an extended spring training game. Rockies manager Jim Tracy said it will resemble a batting practice-type situation, so he isn't quite ready for a live game situation. Outman was forced to begin the season on the disabled list after suffering a vomiting-induced oblique injury. He likely won't be a candidate to join the Rockies' bullpen until sometime in May.

Rockies placed LHP Josh Outman on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 30, with an oblique strain. Outman suffered the strained oblique last week as a result of vomiting brought on by food poisoning. The left-hander could require a whole month of recovery time.

Josh Outman has made the Rockies' Opening Day roster as a reliever. Outman, who was acquired from the Athletics in the Seth Smith deal, had a 3.70 ERA and 35/23 K/BB ratio over 58 1/3 innings last season. The 27-year-old southpaw has always had good stuff, so he could be a useful arm out of the bullpen. It will be interesting to see whether the Rockies also decide to carry fellow left-hander Matt Reynolds.

Rockies acquired LHP Josh Outman and RHP Guillermo Moscoso from the Rockies for OF Seth Smith. Outman posted a 3.70 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 35/23 K/BB ratio in 58 1/3 innings last season for the A's, working as both a starter and reliever. He's likely to be a bullpen-only guy in 2012 for the Rockies, but that could change down the road. The 27-year-old southpaw owns a 3.75 career ERA.
