Lester (2-2) took the loss Sunday, allowing five runs on six hits and two walks in 3.1 innings versus the Cardinals. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
Lester allowed a pair of homers -- a Tommy Edman solo shot in the first inning and Paul Goldschmidt's three-run blast in the third. It's the fourth time in five starts Lester has allowed five or more runs, and the second time in that span he hasn't gotten out of the fourth inning. The southpaw has a 5.80 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 29 strikeouts across 40.1 innings this season. He'll try to get back on track Friday in Milwaukee.

Lester didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 8-7 extra-innings win over the Pirates, coughing up five runs on eight hits and three walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran southpaw seemed to have things well in hand as he took a 6-1 lead into the sixth inning, but after getting Josh Bell to ground out to begin the frame, five straight Bucs reached base before Lester got the hook. He's been tagged for at least five runs in three of his last four outings, ballooning his ERA to 5.11, and his 2020 campaign is beginning to look a lot like a compacted version of his 2019 season -- a hot but unsustainable start, followed by severe regression. Lester will try to get back on track in his next outing Sunday, at home against the Cardinals.

Lester allowed one earned run on eight hits and one walk while striking out five across five innings Wednesday against the Tigers. He did not factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Lester allowed runners to reach base in all five innings he pitched, and multiple runners reached base in three frames. However, he got timely outs to work out of jams and ultimately turned in a solid outing. It was a bounceback effort for Lester, as he had allowed 13 earned runs across 9.2 innings across his last two starts. Overall, he has maintained a 4.55 ERA with a 22:5 K:BB across 31.2 frames this season. He lines up for his next outing Tuesday at Pittsburgh.

Lester (2-1) took the loss Friday as the Cubs were routed 10-1 by the White Sox, coughing up eight runs on nine hits -- including four home runs -- over 3.2 innings. He struck out three without walking a batter.
EDGE Analysis
After a scoreless first inning, the squad from the south side of Chicago showed Lester no mercy, as Luis Robert, Jose Abreu, Danny Mendick and Yasmani Grandal all took the veteran left-hander deep, with the last homer chasing him from the game. After posting a 1.06 ERA through his first three outings, Lester has fallen apart, giving up 13 runs and six homers over his last 9.2 innings. He'll try to turn things around when he next takes the mound Wednesday in Detroit.

Lester allowed five earned runs on nine hits across six innings in a no-decision Sunday against the Brewers. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
Lester turned in his worst outing of the season, as he was victimized by two long balls, bringing his season total to three home runs allowed. It was the first time he allowed more than a single run in a start this year. On a more encouraging note, the veteran lefty didn't walk anybody, and he's walked only four batters all season. Despite the mediocre showing Sunday, Lester still has a strong 2.74 ERA. He'll look to keep the ball in the park and post a better final line in his next outing, which is slated for Saturday against the crosstown White Sox.

Lester (2-0) allowed one earned run on three hits and two walks while striking out four across six innings to earn the win Tuesday against Cleveland.
EDGE Analysis
Lester didn't allow a run until the sixth inning, when he hit a batter with a pitch and subsequently allowed an RBI double to Franmil Reyes. He was otherwise sharp, allowing only one additional extra-base hit while racking up 20 called strikes. Lester has had a resurgent season early on, maintaining a 1.06 ERA through 17 innings. However, he has managed just a 9:4 K:BB in that span. He currently lines up for his next start Sunday against Milwaukee.

Lester will start Tuesday's game at Cleveland, Russell Dorsey of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran southpaw was scheduled to take the mound Friday in St. Louis, but weekend series was postponed as a result of the Cardinals' COVID-19 outbreak. Lester will start Chicago's first game back Tuesday and has allowed one run on four hits and two walks through his first two starts of the season (11 innings).

Lester won't make his scheduled start Friday against the Cubs after the game was postponed due to the Cardinals' coronavirus outbreak, Mark Saxon of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Consecutive days with no positive tests had the Cardinals optimistic about their ability to take the field Friday for the first time in nine days, but they received news of at least one more positive test Friday. It would hardly be a surprise if the entire weekend series gets called off based on how the league has handled similar cases thus far, though it remains possible that Lester could start as soon as Saturday.

Lester allowed one earned run on four hits and a walk while striking out four across six innings Sunday against the Pirates. He did not factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Lester got off to a shaky start, as he allowed a solo home run to Kevin Newman in the first inning. However, he settled in after and retired the final eight batters he faced to turn in his second strong outing of the season. Lester carries a 0.82 ERA into his third start of the season, though he has managed just five strikeouts across 11 innings. His next appearance is currently projected to come Friday at the Cardinals.

Lester (1-0) walked one and struck one over five scoreless, no-hit innings Monday to pick up the win against the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
The Cubs supplied the veteran southpaw with four runs of support before he even stepped on the mound and Lester did the rest, baffling the Reds just long enough to qualify for the win and exiting after 76 pitches (50 strikes). After a shaky 2019 campaign in which he posted a 4.46 ERA and 1.50 WHIP, a shortened schedule and deeper bullpen behind him could be just what Lester needs to turn his ratios around.
