Additionally, he's next in line to take on the closer role if Robert Osuna were to be unavailable for one reason or another.

In addition, Smith has 16 strikeouts compared to just three walks and a WHIP that sits just over 1.00. Smith is normally used in close ballgames and recorded his first two holds of the season this past week.
