JJ Hoover has been unscored upon in his last 21 appearances.
It covers 24 2/3 innings, which is the longest active streak in the majors. Hoover has struck out 29 while allowing just 11 hits and seven walks over the span. The right-hander credits a mechanical adjustment for his success, though he wouldn't reveal exactly what he changed. "I don't want to say what it was," he said. "It was small and minor, but it makes a world of difference."

JJ Hoover allowed a hit and a walk but struck out the side in his inning of work against the Royals Thursday.
Hoover entered camp probably on the outside looking for a spot in the Opening Day bullpen, but he's earned his placement on the roster with a 1.80 ERA and 19/2 K/BB ratio over 10 spring innings. He'll probably begin the season working earlier in the game but could eventually find himself helping to set up for Aroldis Chapman.

JJ Hoover notched his first career save with a scoreless ninth inning in Wednesday's win over the Pirates.
With Jonathan Broxton and Sean Marshall having both appeared in back-to-back games, Reds manager Dusty Baker chose to give Hoover a shot, and he responded with a relatively pain-free ninth inning that included a strikeout of Jose Tabata to end it. He might not get another save chance, but it's clear Hoover, who now holds a 2.08 ERA and 0.96 WHIP over 23 appearances, is moving up the pecking order.
