Jesus Guzman was scratched from Monday's lineup against the Rockies with a sore neck. It's probably safe to call him day-to-day right now. Kyle Blanks will make the start at first base Monday while Aaron Cunningham will play left field.

Jesus Guzman went 3-for-3 with a walk and a steal Wednesday against the Dodgers. The Padres are going to have a hard time taking Guzman's bat out of the lineup in order to give Anthony Rizzo another look next month. His average is back up to .330 now, and he's driven in 35 runs in 182 at-bats since his callup. He's even a remarkable 8-for-8 stealing bases. He hadn't had that many steals in a minor league season since 2004.

Jesus Guzman (elbow) is back in the Padres' starting lineup Tuesday night against the Mets. Guzman entered Monday's game as a pinch-hitter, but hasn't started since last Friday due to a sore left elbow. He'll play first base and bat third Tuesday night against left-hander Jon Niese.

Jesus Guzman went 2-for-4 with an RBI, two runs scored and two stolen bases in San Diego's 9-5 win over the Mets on Wednesday. Guzman just keeps getting it done, as his fifth multi-hit effort in six games gives him a .350/.389/.585 triple slash through his first 131 plate appearances this season. He's batting .385 in August.

Jesus Guzman went 2-for-4 with an RBI in San Diego's loss to the Dodgers on Monday. Both hits came off of Clayton Kershaw. Guzman has now turned in three straight multi-hit efforts, and five in his past seven starts. Coming off a July where he hit .345/.400/.636 with 18 RBI in 22 games, there are more embarrassing fliers to take in mixed leagues.

Jesus Guzman went 2-for-2 with a homer, two RBI and two walks Thursday to help the Padres top the Diamondbacks 4-3. Guzman is playing against more than just lefties now, and he's continued to have success. He's batting .329 with four homers and 17 RBI in 73 at-bats for the Padres. We still wouldn't recommend him in mixed leagues, but he's looking like quite an NL-only asset at the moment.

Jesus Guzman went 3-for-5 with a double, run scored and four RBI in San Diego's blowout win over the Marlins on Wednesday. Slowly earning more playing time with Anthony Rizzo's struggles growing more pronounced, Guzman has now driven in eight runs in his past two starts. Productive throughout a long minor-league career, he's a low-risk flier for NL-only league players.

Jesus Guzman had a three-run homer and an RBI single against the Giants on Saturday. Both hits came off Barry Zito. Guzman was called up mostly because of his numbers against southpaws in Triple-A, and he's doing a nice job as Anthony Rizzo's platoon partner lately. He's batting .292 with two homers and eight RBI in 48 at-bats.

Pinch-hitter Jesus Guzman hit his first major league homer off the bench Friday in the win over the Braves. It came in his 24th at-bat of the season. He also had 20 at-bats with the Giants back in 2009. The homer also gave him his first career run scored and his second and third runs batted in. He's trying to make a case to stick around as a part-timer following the end of interleague play.
