Blevins will make his first career start Sunday against the Dodgers, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic New York reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 34-year-old's first start will come in his 533rd career game. He hasn't gotten more than five outs in any appearance this season so is highly unlikely to go particularly deep today. He'll presumably just be the Mets' opener before turning it over to the rest of the bullpen.

Blevins returned from paternity leave Friday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Blevins had been out since Tuesday for the birth of his child. He'll return to his role as the primary left-hander in the Mets' bullpen. A corresponding move has not yet been announced.

Blevins (paternity) was placed on the paternity list Tuesday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Blevins will likely miss the next two games in order to attend the birth of his child. The Mets have Thursday off, so he will return to to the team on either Friday or Saturday. Buddy Baumann has been recalled from Triple-A, and he will be the left-handed option in the bullpen while Blevins is away.

Blevins is expected to be placed on the paternity list at some point this week as he awaits the birth of his child, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Reliever Buddy Baumann, who was technically optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas on Sunday, remains with the Mets on the taxi squad and will presumably be added back to the active roster once Blevins is formally placed on the paternity list. Blevins has been the Mets' go-to lefty out of the bullpen this season, but he's scuffled more than usual through the first month and a half of the campaign. He has given up five runs and has posted a 5:5 K:BB across eight innings through his 18 appearances.

Blevins struck out one in two-thirds of an inning during Sunday's loss to the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
It's the veteran reliever's sixth straight scoreless appearance. Blevins' 5.87 ERA and 1.57 WHIP look bad, but four of the five runs he's given up this season came in a single game against the Braves on April 19. His 87.8 mph fastball is the slowest of his career and his 5.9 K/9 is far below his usual rate, but Blevins still seems capable of handling the lefty specialist role in the Mets bullpen.

Blevins has a 2.84 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 6:2 K:BB through 6.1 innings this spring.
EDGE Analysis
The ERA and WHIP don't mean much given the sample size, but Blevins' strong K:BB indicates he's ready for the games to start counting. The veteran LOOGY will fill his usual role in the Mets' bullpen in 2018, one that has allowed him to record 35 holds over the last two seasons.

The Mets exercised Blevins' $7 million club option for the 2018 season, Marc Carig of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Blevins appeared in a career-high 75 games this season, sporting a 2.94 ERA and 1.37 WHIP in 49 innings of relief. Looking ahead, the southpaw is one of the top arms in the New York bullpen, and figures to work out of high-leverage situations once again next year.

Blevins has earned a 3.04 ERA in 47.1 innings with the Mets this year.
EDGE Analysis
Blevins has been used predominantly as a situational lefty, and he's followed up a great 2016 campaign with more of the same this season. Blevins has been able to hold left-handed batters to a .209 batting average, and owns a phenomenal 12.93 K/9. The 34-year-old left-hander should continue to see high-leverage innings out of the bullpen.

Blevins fired 1.2 scoreless innings while striking out two to earn the save Friday against the Athletics.
EDGE Analysis
Blevins was protecting a two-run lead and was allowed to stay on the mound while collecting five outs to notch his first save of the season. Aside from the save, he's a decent middle reliever with a 3.16 ERA, but and unimpressive 1.34 WHIP.

Blevins walked three batters, including two with the bases loaded, while recording just one out in Thursday's loss to the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
The runs were charged to Paul Sewald but this was still a terrible outing for the veteran left-hander, who managed to get just five of his 18 pitches on the night over the plate. Blevins still has a 2.22 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 36:12 K:BB in 24.1 innings on the season along with four wins and 10 holds, and assuming this bout of wildness wasn't the result of an injury, he should remain a solid relief option in deep fantasy formats that value setup men.
