Williams allowed five runs (four earned) on nine hits, walking two and striking out three over five innings, but did not figure in the decision as the Phillies defeated Washington 9-8 in 11 innings Friday night. Williams' improbable run of four strong outings since being claimed off waivers from Texas came to a crashing halt. He was in trouble most of the night and only escaped with a no-decision when his mates came from behind to win in extra innings. He'll try the Pirates at home next time out, but he is a pitch-at-your-risk play.

Williams allowed two runs on four hits in a win over the Mets on Saturday. He struck out three and walked three. Williams had a one-hit shutout before the seventh inning when he allowed three hits and the two runs. He is 3-0 with a 2.03 ERA in four starts since being claimed off waivers from Texas.

Williams mowed through the Cardinals lineup Sunday, allowing just one run on five hits and three walks Sunday while striking out five. Williams has been exceptional since joining the Phillies in early August. Over three starts, he has allowed no more than two runs while going at least seven in two of the three outings. Sunday was arguably the best of his three outings, and lowers his ERA to 1.77 with the Phillies.

Williams won Monday against the Mariners as he pitched seven innings and allowed one run, three hits and three walks to go along four strikeouts. Williams has allowed three runs in 12.1 innings in two starts for the Phillies and may remain in the starting rotation based on those two outings. He struggled as a member of the Rangers and the Astros, so this recent run of success might only be short lived.

Williams pitched 5.1 innings in his debut with the Phillies Tuesday, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk while striking out three batters before picking up a no-decision. Picked up off waivers Sunday, Williams didn't do all that bad in his first start with the Phillies. Still, if the pitching-starved Rangers and the Astros didn't want him and his 6.43 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 47:20 K:BB ratio in 63 innings pitched this season, you have to wonder why the Phillies would. Williams' next start is set for Monday at home against the Mariners.

Manager Charlie Manuel confirmed Williams would will start Tuesday vs. the Angels, Stephen Gross of The Morning Call reports. There's little reason to be optimistic about Williams' chances of faring well against the Angels, who boast one of the most prolific offenses in baseball. During stops with the Rangers and Astros this season, Williams has been highly prone to contact, allowing 77 hits in 57.2 innings, inflating his ERA to 6.71. Even in deeper and NL-only formats, it might be best to steer clear of using him Tuesday.

Williams was claimed off waivers by the Phillies on Sunday. The pitching-starved Rangers determined Williams wasn't needed on their injury-laden 40-man roster, but the Phillies evidently didn't feel the same way, scooping up the 32-year-old and immediately adding him to their rotation. He's scheduled to make his first turn for the Phillies on Tuesday against the Angels, after the team designated Sean O'Sullivan for assignment in a corresponding move. Expectations should remain low in both mixed and NL-only formats for Williams, who was battered for a 6.71 ERA and 1.66 WHIP over 57.2 innings between the Astros and Rangers this season.

Williams was designated for assignment on Friday. This was a corresponding move to activating Geovany Soto from the DL, and Williams' 9.90 ERA in 10 innings this season with the Rangers made him very expendable.

Jerome Williams tossed six innings of one-run ball in a 4-1 win over the Athletics on Friday. Well, we weren't expecting that. Making his Rangers' debut, Williams held the A's to five hits and no walks while striking out five. The only run scored on an RBI single by Yoenis Cespedes in his final inning of work. Williams has likely earned another opportunity, but we're not expecting fantasy relevancy moving forward.

Rangers purchased the contract of RHP Jerome Williams from Triple-A Round Rock. Williams will join the rotation on Friday against the Blue Jays. The veteran right-hander held a 6.04 ERA and 38/16 K/BB ratio over 47 2/3 relief innings with the Astros earlier this season and is not a fantasy option.
