Samardzija (9-10) allowed one run on two hits and one walk with four strikeouts across seven innings during a tough loss against the Cubs on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
This is the second time in the last three outings that Samardzija gave up just two hits, but he was on the losing end this time, as Kyle Hendricks and the Cubs pitched a shutout. Samardzija has dropped his ERA more than half a run over the last month, but he fell below .500 with the loss Thursday. He is 9-10 with a 3.44 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 123 strikeouts in 146.2 innings this season. Samardzija will pitch next at home against the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

Samardzija did not factor into the decision during Friday's win over the Diamondbacks, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks with four strikeouts over 5.2 innings.
EDGE Analysis
Samardzija gave up a leadoff home run to Ketel Marte in the first inning, then held the Diamondbacks scoreless until his final frame in the sixth. After allowing a double and a walk, Samardzija was yanked with two outs. Unfortunately, the bullpen walked in a run to score Samardzija's runner. Even still, the right-hander was in line for the win all the way up until the Diamondbacks rallied with a five-run eighth inning to even up the score. Samardzija has been solid since July and will take a 3.54 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 119:38 K:BB into a Thursday road matchup against the Cubs.

EDGE Analysis
Samardzija served up a 434-foot homer to Corey Dickerson in the first inning but didn't allow another baserunner until an eighth-inning single. The veteran right-hander has looked fantastic since the start of July with a 1.95 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 43:10 K:BB in eight starts (50.2 innings). Samardzija lines up to next take the mound at Arizona on Friday.

Samardzija (8-9) allowed one run on three hits and three walks over four innings Monday, striking out three batters and taking the loss to Washington.
EDGE Analysis
Samardzija needed 98 pitches just to get through four innings, with just 55 being strikes. The 34-year-old dropped his ERA a bit from 3.75 to 3.70 over 126.1 innings. After going 4-1 with a 2.09 ERA in July, fantasy owners were expecting a better start to August. Samardzija will face the Phillies at home Saturday.

Samardzija allowed one run on four hits and three walks over six innings Friday versus the Padres. He struck out six and did not factor in the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Samardzija and Padres starter Joey Lucchesi engaged in a pitchers' duel for the first six innings of Friday's contest, each allowed one run. It's the fourth time in his last five starts that Shark has allowed two runs or fewer. The 34-year-old owns a 3.95 ERA and 1.18 WHIP with a 102:32 K:BB over 116.1 innings this year. He takes a 7-8 record into his next scheduled start, a road date with the Phillies on Wednesday.

Samardzija (7-8) allowed four runs on six hits while striking out seven over five innings in a losing effort against the Mets on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Samardzija's personal three-game win streak (1.66 ERA and 5.6 K/BB) and the Giants' seven-game run both came to an end Saturday. Three of the four earned runs came via the long ball, increasing his season mark to 1.5 HR/9 (worst mark since 2010). It wasn't all bad for the Shark's fantasy owners, as he salvaged his day with seven punchouts over the five frames. Samardzija's next opponent Friday, the Padres, presents a potential matchup problem with 152 homers through 98 games.

Samardzija (7-7) struck out nine while allowing two runs on four hits with one walk across 6.2 innings to earn a victory against the Rockies in the first game of a doubleheader Monday.
EDGE Analysis
The Giants haven't given Samardzija the best run support this season, but they sure have been raising his run support average lately. They scored 19 runs in Monday's first contest, which was the second time this month the Giants scored at least 13 runs during a Samardzija start. Thanks to the offense, Samardzija has won three straight starts, however, he's also pitching very well during that span. He's yielded just four runs in his last 21.2 innings (1.66 ERA). Overall, he owns a 3.93 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 89 strikeouts in 105.1 innings this season. Samardzija will look to keep his win streak going against the Mets at home Saturday.

Samardzija (6-7) threw seven shutout innings while earning the win Sunday against the Cardinals, striking out two while allowing four hits with no walks.
EDGE Analysis
Samardzija induced an abundance of weak contact in his outing, allowing just three men past first base across seven strong innings. He was excellent in his previous start against the Padres and has seemingly rebounded after a poor month of June. Samardzija has had his ups and downs over the first half of the season and will take a 4.01 ERA into the All-Star break.

Samardzija (5-7) picked up the win against the Padres on Monday, giving up two earned runs and five hits over eight solid innings, striking out six and walking two in a 13-2 victory for the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander cruised to his fifth win of the season, bouncing back nicely after giving up five earned in each of his last two trips to the mound. The solid effort lowered Samardzija's ERA to 4.32 and his WHIP to 1.25 over 91.2 innings ahead of his next start, which will come at home against the Cardinals on Sunday.
