Ellsbury suffered a mild oblique strain during Friday's batting practice session, David Lennon of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
He said he thinks he will resume activities on Saturday, but it wouldn't be surprising if we didn't see him in a game for a week or two. The Yankees have had a rough week with regards to their outfield depth, as Clint Frazier (concussion) went for an MRI on Friday, as he is not recovering at the rate the team had hoped. Ellsbury is slated to open the year as the Yankees' fourth outfielder, so while this injury may cost him some spring games, he wasn't going to be an appealing fantasy asset at the start of the season regardless.

Ellsbury is not concerned about about his side injury Friday, Meredith Marakovits of YES Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ellsbury experienced some tightness in his right side after taking batting practice, but says he could have played if necessary. He was scratched as a precaution but does not have any tests scheduled and plans on resuming normal spring activity Saturday. He'll likely be unaffected by this issue by the time the regular season begins.

Ellsbury was scratched from Friday's lineup with tightness in his side and will be evaluated by doctors, Coley Harvey of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ellsbury was entering camp as the fourth outfielder, so his fantasy appeal was already limited, and now it sounds like he could miss time with what could be an oblique injury. Prospect Estevan Florial is starting in center field in place of the injured veteran.

General manager Brian Cashman said Ellsbury will likely be the Yankees' fourth outfielder next season, Brendan Kuty of NJ.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cashman said Ellbsbury will still compete for an outfield spot, but that the team is basically set on starting Brett Gardner, Aaron Hicks and Aaron Judge from left to right across the outfield. This isn't all too surprising, as Ellsbury didn't start a single postseason game in the outfield. The 34-year-old was still effective last season, hitting .264/.348/.402 with seven homers and 22 stolen bases in 112 games, and could earn a starting job elsewhere if he decides to waive his no-trade clause.

Ellsbury is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
After starting four consecutive games, over which he went 6-for-13 (.462) while drawing four walks, Ellsbury will have the day off. With Ellsbury sitting out Sunday, Brett Gardner will move to center field while Clint Frazier heads to left.

Ellsbury went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in Wednesday's win over the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
Ellsbury saw an increase in playing time when both Aaron Hicks and Clint Frazier hit the disabled list, and even though the latter is back, Ellsbury's red-hot September has forced manager Joe Girardi to keep his bat in the lineup. The 34-year-old is hitting .412 with a .524 OBP in 12 games on the month, so he figures to continue being a regular fixture in the Yankee lineup down the final stretch of the season.

Ellsbury will start in center field and bat ninth Sunday against the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
With Aaron Hicks succumbing to another oblique injury that resulted in his placement on the disabled list earlier Sunday, Ellsbury looks poised to reclaim an everyday role since he had been the team's only healthy outfielder on the bench. The prospect of regular at-bats should give Ellsbury some appeal in AL-only and deeper mixed leagues where available, but those banking on the 33-year-old to return to vintage form should temper expectations. He's suffering through one of the worst seasons of his career in 2017, contributing a .245/.321/.387 line over 307 plate appearances.

Ellsbury is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Tigers, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
The injury to Matt Holliday (back) had opened up more frequent starts for Ellsbury earlier in August, but with Tyler Austin having since settling as the Yankees' primary designated hitter, the 33-year-old has seen his at-bats take a significant hit. Ellsbury will be on the bench for a fifth consecutive game Tuesday.

Ellsbury will start in center field and lead off Wednesday against the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
A night after hitting seventh, Ellsbury will jump six spots in the order to set the table for the Yankees with Brett Gardner receiving the evening off to rest. Manager Joe Girardi has been rotating in a number of different players at designated hitter of late with Matt Holliday (back) on the disabled list, but it appears that Ellsbury could be the main beneficiary of the shuffling of the lineup more often than not. Ellsbury will be making his sixth start in eight games Wednesday.

Ellsbury is out of the lineup Monday against the Mets, Pete Caldera of The Record reports.
EDGE Analysis
Though the Yankees recently swapped one regular (Aaron Hicks) from the disabled list for another (Clint Frazier), it appears it won't be enough to keep Ellsbury in the lineup as frequently as he had been while Hicks was sidelined. Ellsbury has hit just .164 since the All-Star break and may have to settle for only a few starts per week while the Yankees turn to a number of options to fill the open void at designated hitter created by Matt Holliday's (back) placement on the DL.
