Wilhelmsen gave up two runs in the 10th inning to take the loss Sunday against the Pirates. He gave up one hit and one walk and needed 21 pitches to record three outs.
EDGE Analysis
Wilhelmsen entered the contest with the game tied 4-4 and retired the first two batters of the inning before walking Gift Ngoepe and then serving up a two-run homer to Jose Osuna. The right-hander was pitching for the third day in a row, so fatigue may have played a factor in his inability to escape the inning unscathed. Look for manager Torey Lovullo to try and steer away from Wilhelmsen for the next two days, but the former Mariners closer still looks to be a key part of the Diamondbacks' setup ranks.
