Walden (shoulder) will not make the Cardinals' Opening Day roster after his shoulder didn't quite feel right during his final spring training appearance, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.

Walden was one of the best parts of the Cardinals bullpen when healthy, but he struggled to stay on the field last season. After stringing together a number of strong appearances this spring, his shoulder came back to bite in his final tune-up. If this is just a minor blip, then Walden can still be the effective eighth inning guy the Cardinals hope to have, but if this turns out to be more serious, it could lead to another lost season.
