Vernon Wells will need surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right thumb and will be sidelined for at least 8-10 weeks. He'll undergo the procedure Tuesday, and it sounds like he will not be back until the second half. The Angels are probably better off without Wells in the lineup, anyway, but it obviously hurts their depth. Peter Bourjos is due for an uptick in playing time.
