The Yankees sold Wheeler's rights to Tohoku of Japan's Pacific League on Thursday. Wheeler posted an impressive .834 OPS with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre last season, but he also posted an unsightly .528 OPS at the big-league level, so the Yankees decided to move on and give him a chance to play overseas next season.
