The Philadelphia Phillies placed pitcher Chad Billingsley on the disabled list Monday because of an elbow injury, according to the Philadelphia Daily News. Billingsley left his start Saturday due to tightness in his elbow, and interim manager Pete Mackanin said that the team would be cautious with Billingsley, who underwent Tommy John surgery in 2013 and went back on the disabled list earlier this year with a shoulder strain. "Just something didn't look right," Mackanin told ESPN. "In his face you could see in his face that something was bugging him, so we wanted to make sure and take care of it. ... Stiffness, soreness ... he complained about it. We felt it was in the best interest of him, especially after what he's gone through, to take it easy." Jerome Williams, who has been recovering from a hamstring injury, could join the rotation in Billingsley's absence.
