The Marlins have a tentative plan to limit Fernandez's innings, Jon Morosi of FOX Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Marlins still need to discuss the plan with Fernandez, who won't necessarily have a hard cap. The report suggests that the team could keep him within a certain range that would depend on how many stressful innings he has throughout the year. Even if he's limited to around 170 or 180 innings, Fernandez has enough talent to produce at an elite level, boasting a 2.40 ERA, 2.52 FIP, 10.5 K/9 and 2.7 BB/9 to this point in his career (47 starts, 289 innings). There will likely be a more concrete report regarding the limit at some point during spring training.
