Skipworth was optioned to Triple-A Louisville on Friday, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports. The Reds called Skipworth up earlier in the week for catcher depth with Devin Mesoraco nursing a hamstring injury, but Skipworth did not end up appearing in a game. Tucker Barnhart will take Skipworth's spot on the roster and his role as the third catcher, though Barnhart's stay may be short as Mesoraco is expected back at some point this weekend.
