Siegrist (forearm) was activated from the 10-day disabled list and designated for assignment by the Cardinals on Thursday, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.

Siegrist -- who has been sidelined since Aug. 6 with tendinitis in his forearm -- struggled to a 4.98 ERA and 1.602 WHIP across 34.1 innings this year, prompting the Cardinals to cut him loose rather than return him to their bullpen. Given his prior big-league success (2.44 ERA in 136.1 innings over the past two seasons), Siegrist should draw some interest on waivers. John Gant was recalled from Triple-A Memphis to take his place in the bullpen.
