SI.com's Jon Heyman reports that Ramon Hernandez will not be traded because Reds manager Dusty Baker prefers to have a veteran during a playoff race rather than a rookie like Devin Mesoraco. It seems foolish not to deal Hernandez while he's having a nice year and hand over the catching duties to Ryan Hanigan and Mesoraco, but it's really no surprise Baker (and GM Walt Jocketty) is taking this stance. It might make a little more sense if the Reds weren't three games below .500 and 6.5 out of first place.
