Shields (shoulder) will resume a throwing program Monday, Toni Ginnetti of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Shields has been sidelined since late April with the strained right lat muscle, and though he initially expected to return from the disabled list in the 10-day minimum or close to it, those plans were shelved after he suffered a setback earlier this month. After taking the past two weeks off to rest up, Shields said his lat has responded nicely, so he'll attempt to work his way back into action. Shields may need a week or longer to build up his arm strength and head out on a rehab assignment before the White Sox activate him and return him to the rotation.
