Shields (shoulder) allowed three runs (one earned) on three hits without a walk while striking out three over four innings in a rehabilitation start for Triple-A Charlotte Saturday. He threw 54 pitches, 35 for strikes.
EDGE Analysis
Shields, who's made no fewer than 31 starts over his previous 10 seasons, finds himself in uncharted territory in 2017, having spent seven weeks on the disabled list. The White Sox haven't indicated a schedule for Shields to remain on rehab assignment, but given no setbacks and a normal increase of pitches and innings, we expect to see the right-hander back in Chicago by mid June.
