Sean Marshall was pulled from a save opportunity Saturday against the Yankees. Marshall entered the bottom of the ninth inning with a three-run cushion, but he allowed two runs on four hits before getting pulled in favor of Jose Arredondo. Arredondo then got Derek Jeter to hit into a fielder's choice and Curtis Granderson on a ground out to first base to end it. Marshall has only blown one save in eight tries this year and has a solid 21/3 K K/BB ratio, but he owns an ugly 5.02 ERA over 14 1/3 innings. If the Reds truly have no intention of putting Aroldis Chapman in the rotation this year, the hard-throwing left-hander could eventually threaten for the closer job.
