Schierholtz was called up from Triple-A Syracuse on Saturday. Schierholtz will join the big club after just four games with Syracuse, filling the veteran depth role vacated by Nate McLouth (shoulder). In 99 games with the Cubs prior to his release, Schierholtz batted just .192/.240/.300 with six homers and 33 RBI, and it's hard to imagine the change of scenery will lead to a significant turnaround.
