San Diego Padres pitcher Josh Johnson will throw from 180 feet Sunday as part of his recovery from an elbow injury, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. Johnson has yet to throw a pitch for the Padres after signing with the team in January, but he could join the big club in September if he can complete a rehab assignment free of setbacks. “We're always hopeful,” assistant general manager Fred Uhlman Jr. said. “He’s just starting to ramp up, so we can't answer that until he gets back up on a mound.” Johnson has started all but two games he has appeared in over his major league career, but it seems as though he will be worked out as a reliever in order to hasten his return. “I like starting,” Johnson said. “But whatever I can do to help the team.”
