Royals designated RHP J.C. Gutierrez for assignment. Gutierrez has pitched pretty decently for the Royals, posting a 3.38 ERA and 1.30 WHIP, but he was the low man on the totem pole in the bullpen. It's possible he could draw interest on waivers.
