Roberts signed a minor-league contract with the Athletics on Sunday. He will report to Triple-A Nashville and bat fifth for them in Sunday's game. The Athletics were forced to plunder from their Triple-A ranks with utility man Ben Zobrist landing on the disabled list following knee surgery, so Roberts will give the organization a little more depth in the infield. It wouldn't be surprising if Roberts received a call-up at some point in the near future once he gets some at-bats under his belt with Nashville, but the Athletics probably aren't viewing him as an eventual everyday lineup solution at second or third base.
