Lowrie is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Royals, Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Christian Bethancourt will serve as the designated hitter Saturday, and he's fifth different DH the A's have used over the past five games. Lowrie still appears to be the primary option as Oakland's DH, but that clearly doesn't guarantee a spot in the everyday lineup.
