Reds signed LHP Sean Marshall to a three-year, $16.5 million contract extension. The deal runs through the 2015 season. Marshall, who is set to earn $3.1 million in 2012 as part of a previous deal signed with the Cubs, was acquired via trade this winter and will serve as a setup man this season in Cincinnati. The 29-year-old lefty has a spectacular 2.45 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 169/42 K/BB ratio in his past 150 1/3 innings of work, and can safely be considered one of the game's best relievers. The Reds might even try him as a starter down the road.
