Rangers signed 1B Carlos Pena to a minor league contract; assigned him to Triple-A Round Rock. Pena was released by the Angels at the end of spring training, but he has landed in a pretty good situation with the Rangers, who have been hit hard with injuries to Prince Fielder and Mitch Moreland at first base. The 36-year-old hit just .207/.321/.346 with eight homers over 89 games for the Astros and Royals last season, so we're not expecting much. Still, it wouldn't be surprising to see him back in the majors before long.
